An unstamped, '69 yr block, should be very valuable to someone with a Z28 who is missing his original block, DEPENDING on the casting date...  :)

The casting date on the block and the pad date are on the same day , that can't be
possible.

I can't say about that particular engine, but it IS possible.. if the casting is done early in the day, and the assembly later in the day (confirmed by GM engineers).  I've owned (for over 35 yrs)  an original 57 BelAir with born-with 283/2bbl which has the same date for casting and assembly.   When I rebuilt it in the 90's, none of the fasteners had ever been removed from the engine...

As someone posted earlier, every state issued VIN I've ever seen was identified as such...

There is a big difference (mostly measured in self satisfaction) between:
1)   'that' is a good job and looks nice.....
and 2)   'that' is a good job and looks nice,  AND I DID IT... '..  :)

For curiousity's sake, it would be interesting to see the *real* VIN, but regardless of what it was, there's NO way I'd purchase such a vehicle....

You're not suggesting someone should remove that MO motor from that convertible in the 'breathtaking' color combo...  are you?    :)

Maintenance / maintaining doors...

I'm disassembling my door hardware to clean, lubricate, etc... and have some questions I hope to get some help with...

Which inner door hardware (regulators, guides, and latch mechanism') were installed by Fisher before they painted the door?  I'm suspecting it's everything except the glass.. but I've never heard or read anything about this, and I just disassembled my first one (and there is primer/paint overspray on some of the components??)

Is there a good source for an original or good reproduction outer door weatherstrip?  (goes along the top of the door, seals over the door edge, has a chrome/ss bead and provides 'whiskers' against the glass)???  If there is, What is the best source?

Is there a source for the plastic inserts which plug into holes in the door, and provide retention for the door panel pins?  (see photos)

Is there a source for the black 'masking tape' (what it looks like) which was used in the factory to tape down the vapor barrier under the door panel?  (see photo)..

Any information/assistance is appreciated...  :)

Nice car..  and the torque thrusts look great on the early cars..  many ran them back then.. (anyone who could afford them).. :)

I don't think it is the only iron 427 Camaro that is unrestored but definitely not the only unrestoed 427 COPO Camaro including ZL1s
as there (are) amazing ZL1 story.

There are some 427 COPO Camaros that were old race cars that remain mostly unrestored but have mods from racing since new
...  edited..

That car (the original one in this thread) looks TOO good to be unrestored..  it's definitely 'warmed over' even if it was done  a long while ago.  I don't think there is any way, outside of a vacuum chamber, to preserve a Chevrolet that well for 44 yrs..  :) ..
There WAS an unrestored (barn find) COPO at the Camaro Nationals this year..  photos attached.  which show what a *real unrestored* car looks like. :)
So their primary claim of 'being the only unrestored iron block COPO' is not accurate..

PS.  What was the highest body number in '69 PRIOR to the resetting in August '69??

Kurt,..
That's a reasonable theory..   could be..    only thing I've heard that makes sense...
If we knew those dates, and had some dates before and after along with the die location, we might be able to confirm that theory...
