Decoding/Numbers / Re: eBay VO127DZ no VIN w/ - A 17 8 - Cast date??

Do all the number "2"  stampings have that faded short bottom.  I see that in the pic and on my Z and also on my 70 vette350/350HP front pad.

Vin Sequential number for my car is  N672077.   I see in Jerry's book August cars start with N670000 end with N678000.   Anyone else have a early August build Z?

You are still going to have to pay 180,000 for a 1970 Boss 429,    80,000 for a good AAR Cuda,      50 to 70,000 for a very nice 69Z,    100,000 plus for a very nice hemicuda coupe,   60,000 plus for a very nice six pack mopar car.  So I see alittle correcting  over the past few years but prices are what they are and the good cars are still not cheap unless 300,000-plus money for a Boss 429 or Hemicuda or shelby stang now that have corrected to 150 to 200000 sounds afordable?? I do not think so not yet for me anyway.  Prices are still very strong and the collector car hobby is doing just fine.  Your investment and hobby is safe. My opinion. :) :)

Remember that at some point during mid year production they switched locations. I believe it was Jan or Feb, U can find out on the site.  My cars build was August so it would have to be on the oil filter boss. I can tell u I had to rub cayon on it a few times and scrub of the excess to see the numbers it became more noticable after each time.   Make sure U check dates and casting numbers to make sure they all jive with when they were used in the months build of your car.   I spent alot of time just with the 1969 Z28  and SS 350 because that is what I own.   With this site and Jerry's book all theinfo U need.

I have a 3 and 4 year old so I used one of there's.     That is why most people feel it is impossible to see clearly the numbers while the motor is still in the car. When I purchased my car the rough area was still freshly painted as my car only has about 100 miles or less on it.    My car has full ownership history and I was able to speak with every one including the original owner who still lives where he purchased the Z so the stamping or something had to be there.  keep looking U will find it DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad I can help

Try cleaning the area off all old paint,   then use a yellow crayon and rub the area ,  then take a tooth brush and scrub the area to remove the excess crayon.  Take a LED flashlight and take a look.  This worked great with my car to see the stampings at least U maybe can find a few numbers or letters GOOD LUCK look something  should be there.     Also take a bunch of pics with your camera sometimes the camera will pick up things that are naked to the eye.

Good idea with the soap stone too.  The last 2 woners of my car could  see something there, but could not read it even with the motor out and stripped before paint and pretty much gave up and because of all the ownership info and dates  all seamed resonable and felt good about the motor being original one to the car.  The yellow crayon worked the bomb!!! It was like night and day.  The pics I have are really cool  to look at and I have them blown up and stored with my cars historical book.  I look at them from time to time.  You know BIG THING if your Z28 has the original motor, now I cannot rev the shit out of it a run the car extra hard.  boo hoo. I am looking for a driver 69 Z28 now.

Everyone nowadays is looking for a deal. This is what I think the deal is and this is my opinion and I had plenty of friends out in the desert for the whole shebang.    I am sure U can get a very nice number 2 driver car for plenty less lets say 30 to 40 grand Z28 maybe original motor or maybe a CORRECT z28 motor, but the number 1- and number 1 cars that are nut and bolt frame off cars that are very correct and very gorgeous that U would not even drive but trailer to shows are still worth strong money and U will be hard to find a 40grand Z that is this maybe U can but it will be hard and U will be lucky.     I paid 65 grand for my car last year and I am not afraid to tell people that because I have no plans on selling it and did not buy to sell it. My car was a very nice number 1 car and a very rare color combination with great options and I felt good about it and could not build the car for that price.  The only problem I have now is that I love the car but do not drive it much because it has no miles on it and it is very correct with natural finishes etc.                                                I would love to buy a driver quality 69 Z for a reasonable price but because there is no such thing as a reasonable price for a Z that is why good ones brong strong money along with the SS 396 cars as well even now.      All in all I feel very good and comfy with my money in all my cars and have seen the market for cars survive the economy downs over the decades .    The desert preformed well , it did not explode like it did a fews years back and it did not crash like some people thought or maybe hoped it would.        Thanks for the CRG site love it and all the members.
