16  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Now that you know what dealer originally sold your car.... on: May 22, 2014, 12:35:39 PM
HELP!
Hi guys,
Now I really need your help here!
I finally got my SDR today and it says as follows:

Dealer code 784 in zone 3.
Dealer name and location was:

Svanda-Meyer Chevrolet , Inc
Sparta, Illinois

Does anybody have anything like license frames or other merchandise from this dealer?
Searching the net resulted in just the fact that the dealer still exist, just slightly changed the name to Svanda Chevrolet Buick GMC!
...otherwise it's rather empty on the net! Sad

Is there someone living in Sparta, Illinois that could belt a fellow Camaro-owner ....? Wink
17  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Mud flaps? fender protectors? anyone? on: May 21, 2014, 02:13:23 PM
I remember when a CHP gave me a fix it ticket back in 1969 that included a requirement to put mud flaps on simply because I went to G series tires in back. So I bought a set of these same flaps but just used the metal part. Technically the tire exposure did not meet Vehicle code requirements at the time, and this officer was known for being very nit-picky about stuff like that. Seems like nowadays the constables have better things to do than look for VC violations that are not a obvious safety issue. BTW the flaps did not stay on long after follow up inspection.

Do you still have them? Wink

@ Phillip: Ha, ha, you do know how cool we hugger orange duds really are, spot on! Smiley

@ Gary: It will take a while until I'll get them here to Sweden I guess but meanwhile I got the pics from EBay....

...but is this really an original Camaro option??

Is anyone running these little items on their '69 Camaro to protect their lower body panel paint?  Smiley

I couldnīt resist, I bought that shit! Smiley
In Sweden we have a lot of gravel roads so maybe with this I can drive the Hugger on them! Wink
...or I just keep the pair in the trunk for a retro display!

What are the possibilities for me, as an foreign Camaro-owner, to get such information regarding my car that you all mention here?

If you have the VIN, you can get the info.

Ed

Thanx Ed! Smiley

What are the possibilities for me, as an foreign Camaro-owner, to get such information regarding my car that you all mention here? And what is DMV?
All I have is the original licence plates, including the HGGER69 one, and the VIN!

Your bikini team needs more chicks and less dudes Wink What would a 69 camaro cost like yours in Sweden, in dollars.
It's very hard to say, it depends but I have an insurance value of appr $ 50 000.

27  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Age Groups of Our Hobby on: December 11, 2013, 08:46:05 AM
Well...I replied with my age but I still feel like I'm in my 20's. At least my wife tells me I still act like I am  Wink
Hey...who said you have to grow up!
You only go around once in life so when my time comes to depart, I want it to be like sliding into home base and saying "that was one heck of a run"!
Mike
I agree! Itīs not how old you are, itīs how old you feel inside that counts!!
.... I feel like 25 everytime I burn some rubber with the Camaro! Smiley

I also think that the reason for the next generation loosing interest in this hobby is due to the costs....
28  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Firestone vs. Goodyear Poly-glas tires on: November 20, 2013, 02:32:52 AM
I find this interesting..your the first to chime in on those tires.  I wonder if anyone has issues with the Firestone "Wide-O-Oval" tires.  I see alot of these on 69 Camaros. Does your car "wander" like mine, left to right, right to left?  Anyone out there having similiar issues with these tires please voice your facts.  thanks!  Don
I have the repro Firestone sports car 200 tires on my car. They ride like shit!
I had a set of re-pro Firestone Wide Ovals F70-14 on my 69 a year or to and then changed to NOS Good Year Polyglas H70-14 in rear and Polyglas F70-14 in front. My car is dropped 2" all around and I think the Firestones were a little more instable...but the NOS rear Polyglas maybee stabilizes the car up a bit?
29  Model Specific Discussions / Foreign Camaros / Re: Is this the first 69 Camaro sold direct to Sweden? on: November 06, 2013, 03:41:03 AM
Ha, he maybee they were! At least they were car enthusiasts themselves so they knew what to look for!  Grin

First gen, oh that's a lot I guess. I've been to the local show in my own town with like 120ī people and the show had like 1500 cars and maybee 30 first gen!
A couple of original pace cars, one original 427 (see pic above), a couple of real deal Z:s and the rest SS/RS, RS, SS and a bunch like mine, plain Jane's!

In Sweden totally i really don't have the figs but most of them are 69:s!  Cool Maybee Janne know....?
30  Model Specific Discussions / Foreign Camaros / Re: Is this the first 69 Camaro sold direct to Sweden? on: November 06, 2013, 02:42:00 AM
Man finding another Camaro, or sighting of another let alone another 69 in sweden while you guys are rolling yours must be wild sight. If I was visiting Sweden and saw (3) 69 Camaros rolling down the street I think that would have to do a double take, I thought there were just Volvo shows over there?? Cheesy
Smiley
No it's actually a lot of classic American cars in the street, at least during summer! Wink
I met an American couple in the age of 60 plus and they had never seen so many American classics during one night in their life and this was just a ordinary summer night in a Swedish town with like 200 000 habitans! No special cruising night, no car show, no nothing, just an ordinary summer evening! Smiley
