General Discussion / Every mans dream garage?!
« on: July 06, 2009, 07:22:01 PM »
I had a friend for a visit during last weekend and I just must let you se my home garage at this pont! :P I don´t think this is a common sight even in a garge in the US.
My friends car is a original 427 former race car and it´s not 100 % original right now but the goal is to restore it to it´s former looks! The original paint is light blue metallic but I just love the Hugger orange!

Now the Hugger has bumper guards!!

The rear ones fitted lika a glove, talk about "bolt on" ! :D

...but with the front ones I had to work hard with the grinder and finally I got them decent in place:

What do you think?

The reasons for me to put them there in the first place was that I allready had the holes for them in the front and I thought it would look nice on a 2" dropped 69 Camaro!  :D

The only standard silver grille I see on the HeartbeatCity site is one that is used. There is an NOS Rally Sport Silver Grille. Did I miss it somehow?

RS grille is always black!

Hugger69, I ran into this problem a few years ago and found it wasn't the guards instead it was the bumper. The guards were made to fit the original bumper, not the repro. I have a 69 here that the customer wants me to add the tall front guards to, but I know I am going to have a time fitting them to the bumper as his car has an older repro bumper on it now. I have heard that these guards do fit the top of the line bumper from Goodmark, but I have not confirmed this with a test fit of my own. They did some serious retooling about 5 years ago on all of their bumpers to be more exact on exterior shape as compared to originals, and of the ones for the 67-68 models they are pretty much dead-on. You are doing about the only thing feasible to make them fit, which stinks because now you have to either rechrome them or paint the edges that you grind............................RatPack........................
Thanx for an quick answer! :)
...I was told, by the former owner in US, that I have a rechromed original front bumper so my guess is that the bumper guard tool are wrong!? I´m going to use paint and rubber sealing when mounting the guards!

Hi!
Has anybody else had problems when mounting repro bumper guards, specially in the front on a 69 Camaro??  ???
I have to use the grinder to take a lot of material, and crome, away so the guard at least fit the bumper shape...! :(

I bought the bumper guards from NPD cause i heard that they had rather good quality!  ::)

there was a recent thread about this: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=4185.0
There are some photos there that may help.
Depending on where you are located, or if you are going to Carlisle, I might be interested in the used black grill.

I started that thread so I´m familiar with the quest! I´ve just painted the egg mesh Argent silver and I think it went ok!

Has anyone noticed that the Camaro is not on the list of cars that GM is supposedly going to keep building in the next few years after restructuring?...................RatPack.................

didn't you guy's see that memo ? GM stopped making camaro's in mid 1970 with the end of the 1969 model production year !

Hi five!!

After spending week after week in the paint shop I finally got the grille back to my garage so I could start remounting it!

First I had to add the center bowtie enblem and the polished moldings:
" width="600

Here it´s a prefit of the grille:
" width="600

Now was the right time to put som new fresch buchings and screws from NPD in place:
" width="600

Here is the grille and front bvumper in place after hours od adjustments.
I also took the front spoiler of just for testing and I kind of like the new clean apparence! :)
" width="600

I gotta take the HUgger for its first ride this year and this is the final result outside the garage:
" width="600

Hi and Hej

Yes this looks nice.
But as someone asked, is it same trimring as on RallyWheels / SS-Wheels?
And what kind of rims is it, 14 or 15"?

Those are trim rings with dogdish caps

Cause it is, that were what I meant or...?  ???

But Kurt, is this the same trim rings used with the Rally Wheels??

Yes, TT with redline is nice, but it's more common than my SS-wheels.
And TT, with or without redline, is 8 out of 10 cars.
No, I will not put that on the car.

I'm looking for original SteelWheels with a set of HubCaps.
My questions is, what or which is the right set of hubcaps for my car?

GUS

Tjen mannen!
Du skall väl ha samma som jag fast med en snobbring, om du skall vara korrekt! Tror dock fälgen skall vara silverlackad på SS men ej säker!

My original 02D Z/28 (X33 - with Z21) has the silver grille and bezels, and a narrow black ring painted between the bright ring on the bezel and the headlamp.

So it´s supposed to be black then!! Oops, I´ve just painted that part Argent as well! :(
