Originality / How to tell if it's a real OEM bumper?
« on: April 23, 2019, 11:44:50 PM »
I found a front bumper for a 1969 on Craigslist...
Seller claims it's OEM... How can I verify that statement?
 Any stampings to look for?

 Thanks.

Maintenance / HELP!: Kick Panel Installation
« on: July 24, 2018, 05:13:51 PM »
I had to take a break...

I've been attempting to install the Right side (non-AC) kick panel and it's not going well (and that side should be the easier of the two). I'm afraid that I'm going to break the thing...
I've tried trimming the inner-most plastic flange a bit and that did seem to help, but it's still not going in.

Any tips, tricks, or thoughts as to how to get this thing in??
(or is cussing & swearing required?)

Maintenance / GEN light: Help me remember?
« on: June 16, 2018, 08:30:32 PM »
An 'old guy' here that can't seem to remember...
On a 69, when you turn the key to the ON position, shouldn't the GEN light turn on?

I swear that's how it used to work, but now that I've replaced the under-dash wiring harness
with an AAW Factory Fit harness, I'm not so sure... Everything else is working properly, but that
light does not turn on..

Please help.

Ok, I'm in the middle of a under-dash wiring harness replacement using American Autowire 'Factory Fit' harness...
How do you remove/unplug the lighting & engine harnesses from the firewall side of the fuse panel??
I removed the center bolt from the firewall side and also removed the 2 inside screws holding the fuse panel.
But I still can't budge them... Is it just 50 years of gunk holding them in? or did they apply some sealant at the factory?

I'm worried about prying on them and possibly breaking the connector.

Maintenance / What light bulb# for heater controls on a 69
« on: May 21, 2018, 06:31:45 PM »
After looking at the dash wiring harness, it appears as if the heater control light bulb is NOT a #194 bulb as the other dash bulbs... it is a twist-in bulb...

Does anybody know the bulb # (for a 1969)??

I've been referencing... https://www.superbrightleds.com/vehicle/1969-chevrolet-camaro?make=16&model=514&year=1969
and suspect it is probably #1445 (or possibly #1895), but I would like some verification before I place an order.

Thanks.

I've been trying to figure out the possible engine/trans combos that my 69 may have been built with...
the car has the original rearend (Axle code: BR 1206G1, Line2: E, Casting: 3894860NF) Read: 12-Bolt Posi 3.07
But the engine/trans are non-original.
And I know it is was originally a manual transmission car(clutch/brake pedals).

So, assuming the 3.07 gear ratio was standard and not an option...
What engine/trans combos would have been possible?

General Discussion / Anybody buy from LicensePlates.tv
« on: January 15, 2018, 09:42:48 PM »
Just curious; saw an ad for www.LicensePlates.tv
Apparently they make custom reproduction USA State License Plates.
Anyway, I'm wondering how good the quality is.

Also, It's strange that their Texas plates are the "euro" style?!?
My Camaro is a Texas car, but I wouldn't want that style plate on it.

General Discussion / 69 Project on CL w/unattached VIN & X33 Tag

Warning! Another 69 Z28 soon to be built...

I'm guessing that it's a 'fake' body tag.

Maintenance / Need Recommendation for a Fuel Sender
« on: August 25, 2016, 06:55:09 PM »
I need a recommendation for a new fuel sender as I believe that the one that I bought from NAPA is wrong for a 1969 Camaro (350 SBC: one tube).

I've checked everything out; gauge works OK, sender works OK on the bench test, and I also hooked it up to the car wiring outside of the tank and verified the ohm range and range of the needle on the gauge.

The problem is that when everything is installed, the gauge will read 'Empty' when there is still about 7 gallons left in it. I suspect that the float arm is TOO short and not reaching low enough into the tank. So, that's why I think that it's the incorrect sender for the application. (BTW: It's a Spectre replacement gas tank)

Any Recommendations?

Restoration / 69 "Door Window Guides"
« on: March 01, 2016, 06:22:45 PM »
Question about these 'Door Window Guides' - http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=380537
My 69 Camaro doesn't have them and I can't find them in the AIM.

Apparently they attach under the Outer Window Felts.

Are they required? and Why wouldn't they be in the AIM?

Maintenance / Dash BRAKE Light Problem
« on: August 01, 2013, 07:05:28 PM »
OK. After reading many posts on this subject, I attempted to diagnose my problem:
My dash BRAKE light is always ON.

Now, from what I have read, disconnecting both the wire at the parking brake switch under the dash AND disconnecting the wire at the master cylinder junction block should cause the BRAKE lamp to turn OFF.
Mine stays ON.

Does this mean that I have a short somewhere in that circuit??
