1  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: definative answer ? does it exist on: April 28, 2015, 03:50:57 AM
Personally, I wouldn't go on the search of an engine that is dated close to the cars build date. Even if you find one, it still isn't numbers matching, so what have you gained? If you are going to spend the energy trying to locate a closely dated engine, I'd rather use that energy to chase down the original engine. Even if it isn't rebuildable, at least you would have it and be able to prove it is an original BB car.

I voted, and it wasn't for a '69.
3  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 69 Z28 Crankshaft number on: April 15, 2015, 04:12:41 AM
What is the assembly code stamped in the block  on the pad underneath the alternator? (will look something like V0914DZ) That will give the exact date the engine was assembled.

Welcome, Brian! Nice looking car and story. I agree with the others..... preserve it, but don't restore it. They are only original once!

If it is indeed a stripe delete car, that would explain the - - on the tag.

12  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Crayon behind rear seat X? Opinions please on: June 03, 2014, 04:27:33 AM
4 leaf springs was a Z/28 only deal, but none of them had A/C, so that rules X3 out.
13  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Rain makes corn.. on: May 13, 2014, 04:30:46 AM
Rain makes grain.... and grain makes whiskey. We've gotten around 2" of rain since Saturday. Plenty wet around here for a while. I am not looking forward to the temps coming in the next couple of days, but at least it isn't going to frost. There's quite a bit of corn and beans up around here.

Good deal no one was hurt and the fire got stopped. Doesn't look like the helicopter will buff out, though. Got anything planted, Bill? I'm waiting to see what the weather does next week. Doesn't sound promising, though.
