Garage Talk / Re: Ruff Day for this 1st Gen Owner

Is the cop there for the accident, or the murder that would have ensued? From, the picture, doesn't look TOO serious as far as injuries.

Maintenance / Re: Muncie 4 speed neutral positions
« on: November 14, 2022, 07:49:03 AM »
The front 2 levers (1-2 and 3-4) should be in their center detent for neutral. I don't remember if the reverse lever should be forward or backward but is easy enough to try. If the transmission is out of the car, I can see the output shaft turning while turning the input shaft just from internal friction of parts and the gear oil. You may have to hold the output shaft while spinning the input shaft.

As much as these things pain us, at least we have the Internet, so it is easier to track things.

6-cylinder Camaros / Re: Surviving Six Cylinder 1969 Camaros

Nothing rare there..... not!
Of the cars that survive, that's a one of one.

I'll see if I can get some pictures and he doesn't mind me posting them. Be patient as I don't see him very often IIRC, it has a 723 interior.

A friend has a '69 6 cylinder convertible in Champagne. Sorry... I don't have any pictures of it, but it's a pretty car.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1B & H177 code on trim tag?
« on: March 08, 2022, 08:06:50 AM »
The 1B is actually 01B (0 is covered by the rivet). That decodes as the second week of January. The H177 is an internal scheduling code used at the Van Nuys plant and doesn't mean much. As I get it, the H means the car was built the 8th day of the month, and 177 means it was the 177th car down the line that day.

General Discussion / Re: 1969 Z28 how many in this color combo?
« on: March 04, 2022, 08:06:33 AM »
BNY is probably one of my favorite factory colors, but I'm a fan of the less popular colors. I've got a friend with a Champagne '69 convertible 6 cyl. That is a sharp car as well.

He's pretty proud of that tag, isn't he?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 norwood tag help
« on: October 16, 2021, 09:24:08 AM »
Norwood didn't start using the X codes until the 2nd week of December. The tag pictured is from the first week of November. Too early for an X code.

Obviously at least one of the tags has been replaced. I'd forget you even saw that car.

Restoration / Re: 1969 L78 Smog set up
« on: May 21, 2021, 07:17:25 AM »
Diverter valves are different between a SB and a BB. The difference is slight, but if you are going for a 100% correct restoration, you'll have to confirm with the seller which valve it has. IIRC, the SB valve is 29295, and the BB valve is 29297, but I'd confirm that with someone here. Pulley is probably a repop, but those are easy enough to change down the road.

General Discussion / Re: roller rockers

Probably won’t make much difference.

x3. Spend the money where it will do some actual good. Roller rockers have their place, but they are over-sold.
