The last VIN that CRG has listed for December 1967 is 368090. My VIN is 78 numbers before that. I am courious to know how many Camaro's were produced in one day at the Norwood plant. But that still would not prove anything.

I sent mine to Jerry MacNeish at Camaro Hi-Performance. They did and excellant job and I thought the price was reasonable.

My 68 Z/28 is a 12E car, not black though. Just wanted to let you know that there were Z/28's made in the 5th week of December 1967.

General Discussion / 1968 Camaro RS Z28
« on: January 22, 2009, 10:21:22 PM »
I have been trying to find a place on the internet to put pictures and information on my Camaro. I have a facebook page with pictures and little of history of my Camaro. I would like to find a better place but I don't know if I want to do my own web page. Does anyone have any suggestions. My facebook page is: 1968 Camaro RS Z28.

I didn't see any 1968 Z 28's at this auction. I guess all the owners are keeping them

Decoding/Numbers / Date codes vs build dates.
« on: July 15, 2008, 09:49:30 PM »
My 1968 Z28 has a 12E build date. Is an August 10, 1967 alternator too early for my car? This has probably been discussed here before, but I couldn't find anything by searching.
Thanks,
Larry

Originality / Re: Rivets for 68 grill

I would still like to know where to get a rivet gun to install these rivets. A regular rivet gun does not install them correctly. Thanks.

Take it to Didley's Street Rods in Metamora, Illinois. They do excellent work, especially on Camaros.

Restoration / Bare Metal Surfaces

Eastwood makes a Diamond Clear for bare metal surfaces. It keeps the metal from rusting. Does anyone recommend using this or does it take away from the originality of the car.
Thanks,

Decoding/Numbers / Leaf Springs 68 Z28?
« on: May 19, 2008, 09:31:58 PM »
I have a pair of new rear leaf springs for a 1968 Camaro. They are 2 leaf springs and each leaf is approx. .392 thick and 56 inches long. The tag says that it is: group no. 7.503; part no. 3935786. This information is from the "all purpose output card" that was sent with them from GM. I don't know what the code is or where the code is stamped, or if they were stamped.  I ordered these springs from a Chevy dealer in 1969, but I don't remember what they are. I think they are off road springs, maybe for off road racing. I also have the matching coil springs for the front. The coil springs do not have any paper work with them. Both front and rear springs have never been installed. Does anyone have any further information on these springs. My Chevrolet Chassis and Parts Catalog does not list them.
Thanks, Larry

I bought my rivets from Classic Muscle. The only problem is that you need a special rivet gun to install them and I can't find one. I think they are the same style rivets that were used on the old riveted brake shoes.
