Because the H.T. starter housing is longer the solenoid requires a spacer at the front mounting point (where the terminals are).

Are the rockers rock solid and the rest of the shell assembly? Did you at least brace the shell prior to removal? Triangulation is a strong form of structural integrity. Leave the doors on and fit to new quarters and rockers.  Establishing these gaps first is important. Now that you took it apart forge ahead.

He was not checking his hands for tools. He wanted to see if he had office hands.

I thought it was too good to be true. Oh well, back to the country in search of that rare barn find.

Barn Find? A friend takes yearly jaunts to obscure , out of the way backwoods areas. Some down south, some out west. He'll drive down dirt roads for miles in no man's land and ask the locals with old cars in their yards if they know anyone who has other old cars around. One sent him down a dirt road for many miles to find the place. Z/28s, A Superbird, Chevelles, Cudas, approx 20 cars. Scattered around and all needing completes. Some doable, others toast  Owners could not care less if they sold them or they rotted to the earth. "Been there done that". Drive around enough and you can find one. One homeowner would not let my friend look around until he saw his hands first. Upon satisfaction he was allowed.

I never had a problem with using PPG urethane. My inner fenders are shot with Concept. Other parts are PPG 9266 or SEM. Be prepared to burp for the urethane. PPG Concept is but one choice for the exterior but uses a flattening agent for the undercarriage. Same animal. Call your jobber and get a price for all three and decide. Urethane being the most durable obviously. My car sees the road often and none of the above three are failing.

There is an O-ring on the fitting that screws into the back of the pump. Rebuild kits are available OTC.

General Discussion / Re: 67 SS HOOD SIT HIGH IN THE REAR
« on: November 12, 2009, 10:38:27 PM »
If you did not adjust it the following way do so.  You have to pivot the hinge in order to bring the rear down. Loosen the hinge to fender bolts, open the hood and push up, pivoting the hinge. Now tighten the bolts. It can be done alone but is obviously easier with aid. It's standard hood alignment procedure. I just did a 70 Trans Am hood yesterday. Removing the springs is easy too. I have a tool for it but you can put a fan belt on it and pull it off. The tool is merely a chain with a hook. I've never use aftermarket hinges so I cannot attest to their quality. I don't have SS springs on mine and it closes fine.

There are many sources for G. paint. I used used in the sign and awning business. And obvously they use it on fences also. Prices vary. Just search "galvanized paint" and you'll get a bunch of prices and sources. A quick search found two 5 bucks cheaper than Eastwood. But nothing is like the real plating.

General Discussion / Re: Stereo for my 67 convertible

One option is to call or e-mail Larry. Dedicated and knowledgeable. He's doing an AM conversion for me and I supply him with cores when I have them. He'll tell you what speakers to buy and why and provide you with the proper installation methods to achieve optimum sound. http://woodradios.com/index.htm
An unfortunate circumstance or a rarity, but my Ken Harrison had a meltdown 2 years into it.

Unless something has changed CHQ is it. Someone recently affirmed this also. If yours require zero prep work, rechroming is an option. CHQs are available from various vendors so shop around.
