General Discussion / Re: Storage during off season ?

Not a good idea to let the suspension hang for long periods.

I agree. Increase tire pressure and cover.

One day isn't really enough to express the Thanks that our servicemen/women deserve. For many, as mentioned above, the scars of war sadly, wasn't fully left behind or never ended. GOD Bless them all and Thank You for Your Service.

I used one back in the day. Sure turned the females heads, and others but aimed at the ladies. Now using one might cause the politically correct crowd to say that it was sexist and that it offends them! I'm not in that group "at all", but you never know anymore. Would turn on the way back machine if I owned one.

I too am a lover of the all muscle cars. Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, Cudas, GTX. I've owned them all and a few others over the years. But I keep coming back to 1st. Gen Camaros.  And for sure, that engine looooks sweeeet! Very Impressive...

Sometimes it is also wise to drill a small hole slightly larger than the crack at it's end. This will stop the damage from spreading further. I realize you might be possibly welding the plastic, but if it were me; I would do this for just piece of mind. You never really know how the repair to plastics will last due to vibration and if it did fail for whatever reason, it may only go as far as the hole that was drilled. I have had success doing this over the years.

Maintenance / Re: Spring in lower radiator hose?
« on: May 15, 2020, 12:18:58 AM »
From what I understand the spring was originally installed in the lower hose to hold it open for the quick pressure fill during the final assembly at the plant. Supposedly after that, it wasn't really needed anymore. But, it did leave the factory with it.

So sorry to hear this. I hope that the culprit/culprits is caught, hung out to dry, and the car returned to you.

And the price difference seems a bit extreme....

I agree.

Lots of fluff add ons. Luggage rack is hideous.

LMAO!

Some dealers back in the day didn't install or took them off for the very reason of theft. Kept them in the trunk most often until a deal was made.

I like and respect this car for what it is. I would be proud to own and keep it that way.

Really neat photo. Looks like all of them had a vinyl roof, even the back row.

Original owner car till 2007. Unrestored, yada yada. Pic his son took prior to selling:

This is how I remember the emblem looking in '69 and 70's when new. What I remember is that they always appeared centered over the turn signal in the lower valance. I detailed these cars after high school classes at a local Chevrolet/Olds/Pontiac dealership. No pictures, I was a kid earning a buck.

I know this is a guess, but surely it isn't simply D 1 is it. I can't think of a reason it would be, but that's what I appear to be seeing.

General Discussion / Re: 1968 396/325 Stock Fuel pump pressure
« on: April 13, 2020, 05:17:47 AM »
The 396/325 I took out of my 67 stayed around 5.5 lb pressure when it was in the Camaro. I have heard others in my area also complain about the newer pumps running high pressure as stated above.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Caveat Emptor...tag messed with?
« on: April 12, 2020, 08:51:35 PM »
At first I thought it looked like the number and letters had been altered, but looking at it again for a longer period of time and a magnifying glass, it actually looks more like it has multiple coats of paint obscuring and blending them all together. My previous remark was premature.
