Restoration / Clurch fan rebuild
« on: August 13, 2012, 02:37:21 AM »
I have to get the original clutch fan rebuilt on my 67 Camaro. I found a site for Kirkconnell Corvettes that does the rebuild. Does anyone have any information good or bad on this vendor? Thanks  Bill

I have a 67 4speed, bench seat car with an under the dash 8 track. There is a good picture in the 67 assembly manual of the bracket and face plate for this type of installation. The bracket does bolt under the dash and the rear of the tape deck rests on the trans tunnel carpet. I have never seen another one installed like this, although I would imagine that some are out there. Good luck finding the bracket and plate.  Bill

Originality / Re: 69z tires

I am currently restoring an 05C Norwood Z/28  JL8 with an original SC 200 Spare. I don't have any info as to whether the JL8 option had anything to do with tire selection. I would be interested if anyone has any documentation on the subject.

John,
Thanks for clarifying the J56 option . When I was doing my 67 Z I asked about the insulators when I had the calipers rebuilt. Lone Star said that they had never seen a Camaro caliper with the insulators and wanted to know if I wanted them put back on. Good move at the time. Now I know that they are correct for my car a it is an original J56 car. Thanks again.   Bill

Just my two cents, but for potmetal Pauls is the best and they will work with you. If they don't think it can be done correctly they will tell you that before starting.  Ned

Mike,
Thanks for the reply. I'll keep an ear out for any info on other brown z's from the ohio area. Also I forgot some info on my ifirst post. The time frame for the person Duane Forsyth owning the car was in the 70's and 80's. I have info that he sold the car to the next owner in July of 1980. I also have a sales slip for some parts from a Grach Bros. Speed and Four wheel drive shop in Poland Ohio. Just hoping some of this information will open a door for me to find some info on the car. Thanks again for the responce.  Ned

Hey Guys,
I am in the process of restoring an original burnish brown 69Z originally from the Poland Ohio area. I am looking for information, former owners, or anything that will help me document this car. I have traced it back several owners to a person named Duane Forsyth from Poland. It was apart and painted a candy burgandy color when I bought it. Someone may remember it in that form. If anyone out there can help it would be much appreciated. Oh by the way the original selling dealer was Ewing Chevrolet of Canton Ohio.  Thanks . Ned

Paragon Corvette reproduction parts has the correct gasket set for the 69Z. Same as Corvette with aluminum intake.   Clem

Restoration / Re: Period correct engine value?
« on: December 18, 2009, 03:48:25 AM »
If the original motor is gone!  The next  best option,   "In My Opinion"    is a close time frame built motor, out of a like car.  That having the correct casting numbers, and engine suffix, for that time frame.   Essentially the same  car ,built  around the same time frame.  The vin number will never match, but this is close as you can get with out commiting fraud!    (Remember ,these motors were never installed in sequence with relation to vin's)......DON
I suppose we could take this one step further . If you replace any part on your restored car with part that was not born with the car and fail to divulge that information you are committing fraud.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Quarter panel stampings
« on: December 13, 2009, 10:46:41 PM »
Sorry I forgot to mention year of car 1969. I figured that the stamps were date codes, but how do you read them? Is it some sort of julian system? Obviously a 43 can't be the day of the month as on the trunk lid. Thanks for the info Myred67. Any other info would be greatly appreciated.  Clem

John'
Thanks for the correction on my statement about the blocks. Learn something every day. Just for my information though, are the castings and machining for the MO blocks any different than the MU blocks. Were the MO blocks from the Saginaw foundry for any particular reason such as better quality or different material content? They all have the same casting numbers, correct? Thanks for any info you can share.
Oh, sorry about the last post, fat fingered the keyboard.   Clem
