Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Sonoma Historics 2016 June 2-5
« on: June 05, 2016, 04:40:39 AM »
Awesome day at the races. Mid 80' s under cloudy skies.
Very much worth the time and effort (thanks to my wife) to be here.
Chad (#64 yellow Camaro) stayed up front and on the last lap
took the last heat over a AMC, Chrysler, and a Ford.

Chris,
There is a recent thread here that details a Muncie rebuild, good reading. I understand that the speedometer cable will interfere with a Hurst shifter ( I am not 100% sure of that).
If the car is all matching the rebuilt original would be my choice.  Pictures?

Restoration / Re: 1968 standard horns

Mike,
Double check your grounds, the horn itself needs to be put back together with all the same contact areas as before to ensure its integrity.

Mikus,
Your car is a 68 so the  69 info. gap. will not affect you. There is a chance your car may fall into the 05C build date trim tag snafu.( there seems to be NO 05A or 05B trim tags for 1968)
The dealer info address is on a sticky on the first forum page. Good luck.

Maintenance / Re: Clutch Grind when shifting to "reverse"
« on: May 02, 2016, 09:29:08 PM »
   Camaroman,
I was taught at a young age to go into third before going into reverse, if it gets tight before it pops into reverse back off the clutch a hair and it will fall into reverse.
It's been working for me for well over thirty years. May I ask why you decided to go with the straight cut gears?

Robert,
My wife and I will be flying up on Friday morning. I never made it up there in 2014 (family issues, that also made 2015 a no go) but all systems are go. I look forward to the weekend, and perhaps
 meet a few fellow CRGers.

Charlie,
It could have been a L30 M20.  My wife also has a 68 08E  (AC, deluxe hounds tooth, speed control, Gauges, R/S, Vinyl top, AM/FM,) but with a L30 M35. I don"t remember the body numbers but it is   #3001025.

Trans bracket? What year did a Muncie shifter bolt to the transmission? Are we talking about the cross member bracket?

General Discussion / Re: 1969 rear antenna and spoiler - here's the rub...
« on: February 01, 2016, 08:39:40 PM »
It's not that the lid will stay open once you have added a spoiler-they all will stay fully open with help, but when you turn the key the added spoiler lids WILL NOT open. It will pop unlocked but will not open all they way by its self. Without a spoiler as soon as you turn the key the lid will pop AND open all the way on it's own.

Greaser,
Get one to match the other side. Pay close attention to the headlight bucket mounting tab location.
