Maintenance / Re: M-21 lube leaking out of the speedo cable
« on: August 19, 2009, 02:23:31 PM »
Awesome pic John.

I have the same problem in one of my Pace Cars with oil under my dash around the speedometer and wasn't sure why it was happening.

Thanks for your insight on this.

Originality / Re: Transmission crossmember bolts

Here's a pic of an original. You can get a functional bolt w/built in washer at Ace Hardware. It won't have the head markings but will work just fine. I think it is a 3/8" x 16 x 1 1/2.

Restoration / Re: exhaust systems manufactures

I just installed a D & R last weekend and was pleased. Not a Gardner, but for the price, a good system. The Passenger side long pipe was about 1 1/2 inches shorter than the drivers side and those same long pipes hang a little lower than the Gardner. I had just put a Gardner on a couple of months ago on my Z/28 and this system went on a Pace Car.
Overall, with a little wrangling, it looks and sounds great and over half the price of Gardner.

I have blown up a picture of the GM tag on the spoiler and have confirmed it to be #3943249.
Let me know if you are interested in it Paul.

I see another post has just confirmed what a "perfect" one just sold for.

The tag is on the inside of the spoiler but the numbers cannot be read. I personally have never come across a 1967 - 1968 NOS Front Spoiler for sale and I keep an eye on camaro parts both on Ebay and Craigslist pretty religiously.
As I stated in my earlier reply, this spoiler is drivers quality, but it is real GM. I would sell it rather reasonable, say $75.00 shipped.

I have a 1968 GM spoiler (NOS) with the tag still on it. It has been on a car and is driver quality but is for sale if you are interested.

Originality / Re: crossmember bolts

They were 3/8" x 16 x 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" shoulder bolts and had an "A" on them. You can get something close without the "A" on it at a hardware store.

Originality / Re: 69 Z28 power steering

I have personally owned (6) 1969 Z/28's so far in my life and three have been manual and three have had power steering. I t has been my understanding that the majority produced were manual.

General Discussion / Re: Rally Sport Vacuum problems. HELP!
« on: January 19, 2009, 12:45:05 AM »
I actually got those same directions and id the conversion several years ago and they work awesome. Just not enough consistent vacuum in a Z/28 motor to make these work. I had a RZ Z/28 by the way.

CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHERE TO FIND A VACUUM LINE DIA. FOR THE 68 RS

General Discussion / Re: 1969 Z/28 Belt
« on: January 01, 2009, 10:30:23 PM »
I confirmed today by looking at one of my other Z's that it is a GM Restoration Belt B-442.

Thanks for all of your help.

Thanks guys, that's what I'll do.
I'll probably go to a Napa and buy a few and see which one fits.
It just seems extremely odd to me that this part does not seem to be known to camaro suppliers.

General Discussion / 1969 Z/28 Belt
« on: December 29, 2008, 10:09:30 PM »
Does anybody have a brand name and part number for the belt used on a 1969 Z/28 without smog. It runes the crank pulley, water pump pulley, and the alternator. I am being told by my supplier that he doesn't have one and doesn't know where to get one.
I believe I bought one for one of my other Z's many years ago at a local Napa but I don't remember anymore.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Trans date vs. engine date code
« on: December 04, 2008, 02:25:35 AM »
I have a documented LA Z/28 with the exact same date on the trans, rear axle, and front pad stamping.

Has anybody seen this before?
