Decoding/Numbers / Re: DZ motor VIN stamp

I have a 529 LA Z that is a V0407DZ so it would not be plausible that your earlier date would have a higher vin number.

Originality / Re: Are these original 1969 tie rod sleeves?
« on: January 16, 2008, 04:24:57 AM »
I believe that those are original.
I just compared then to my original sleeves from my 1969 Z/28 that I am restoring and they look identical. It is a LA April Z for the record. I also have a pair of reproduction sleeves and they are really close but I did find one difference which leads me to believe your is an original sleeve.

Whitepost Restorations can do it.
Google them as I don't have the number handy.

Originality / Re: '69 Pace car
« on: January 16, 2008, 12:15:20 AM »
I can't speak for the speedo, I'm pretty sure the standard one is a 120MPH which is what I have on my pace car. The power top was an option. There are plenty out there without it.
My opinion would be that a car with the original engine is more valuable than one without. The tranny and rear axle are less important, but I also wouldn't want one that was switched from one style to another.
Just my opinion.

I have a LA Pace car with the 350 trans and it is on the passenger side on a flat area.
I have pics on another computer if you want me to send them to you.
Let me know.
