Research Topics & Reports / Re: 69 decklid emblem holes
« on: April 15, 2008, 01:31:19 PM »
My 04B LA Pace Car has just the one set of holes.
My 04C LA Z/28 has both sets. Go figure. It's possible the dealer installed the spoiler on the Z/28 as the original owner told me that he didn't buy it off the lot until August of 1969.

Originality / Re: YH Rally Wheel date code vs car assembly date?

I have an 04C LA Z/28 with 2-26-69 rims.
One was 12-18-68.

Hope that helps.

I would look carefully for the oil filter vin to see if this is the original block. If it isn't, I personally wouldn't waste my money getting a real DZ block that would be essentially the same and still be NOM to this car.
Great find though for the money!

Not to keep you busy with supplying numbers Kurt, but how many of the 1384 are 1969 Z's?

What information would you need for me to include all of my cars into your database?

Thanks.

Hey Kurt,
Just curious as to how many Z's are currently in CRG's database?

Yes Kurt, it was sold new in Walla Walla. Do you have this car in your database?
Like I said, I have no verification on what the guy said, you just don't see too many of them.
What other combinations in your database have less than 7?
Just curious.

I was told by a guy last year who has a yellow /yellow Z, that his father in law used to work at GM and said that only about 300 "camaros" were made with this color combination. Obviously, the number of Z's are far less as Z's were about 17% of all production camaros. Obviously, I have no way to verify if this statement is true, but there are not many out there that I have seen.
I am lucky enough to have one myself which I am currently restoring. All numbers matching, fold down rear seat, tilt, POP, and original sales order. It has a Black vinyl top and is an LA car with 55,000 miles.
I have only seen one car that has this color and option combination and I keep up on the camaro market pretty closely
I believe that it is indeed a rare car.

The two tabs on the left looking at your picture are for the speaker and the two tabs on the right are the power and ground. Power to the plus side on the battery and Ground to the negative.

I just found a guy who will do it.
Thanks.

My original 2 piece rotors are about .990 - .995 and I can't get anybody to turn them down because they say that it won't clean up at .980. They say that .965 is the throwaway spec.
Anybody know of a place that will still turn these?
Jerry M. says they will be fine down to .930 but the trouble is finding someone to do it.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: DZ motor VIN stamp
« on: January 18, 2008, 03:02:53 AM »
As I look at your engine stamp again, I see 276 over 276. It is very possible that you have the same VIN stamped twice. My LA Z/28 is stamped twice on the trans case, but one stamp next to the other. Evidently they weren't such a good shot with the hammer and gang stamp in LA back in 1969!

So Jerry is suggesting that you do have the original motor?

I also have a LA Pace Car with a motor date of TO0327HB and VIN 528929 so a 0318 date would have to be a 528 series I would surmise. Maybe 528226?
