« on: April 17, 2008, 12:41:49 AM »
Can anyone tell me the difference between the 69 trunk lid and the other (67,68) first gen lids? Maybe post a picture?

Thanks for the topic CRG.

I went to pick up my heads from the machine shop and noticed when they were cleaned this white paint markings on the ends. Is this from the factory at Flint?
I cant seem to post a picture but would be glad to send to someone who can.

Like Gary posted it was a restamp as confirmed by Jerry @ CHP and John Z.  The block had been deck so there's no way to confirm it was a DZ engine. There's no futher reason to keep it going.

I deleted the original thread I started on this engine. Here's the way it was listed on ebay last week.

From what I understand the green tip was the replacement for the Camaro from GM until the late eighties early nineties. There is a crimped and non criped handle. This has been replaced by that yellow plastic handled thing.

The flatted steel must of had very limited use and are hard piese to find today.

The stamping does not look correct to me.The DZ looks larger font than the rest.

I think there is a post on this in the forum. On the factory rear Spoiler cars one of the torsion bars was thicker than the other. I can't remember if it's top or bottom

All you 68 Z/28 owners check your VIN's. Pictures of the stamping are blurry but it could be the real deal.

I found this under the NHRA pistons in the JE catalog. I think this is what number Jerry is talking about.

It is a nice car. The stamping looks like the DZ is deeper than the rest of the stamp. The engine pad looks to have alot of deep scratchs from something all over it also. Just my newbee opinion.
