On the lines of the SS hood, what hood springs are on the car? I'am putting a SS hood back on my 68, and I read the report on the springs being differant. With the stock springs the hood works OK. How do they work when you change the springs? I ordered a new set from GM & received them today & haven't install yet. Any input will be welcomed Thanks JW

Just getting over eye surgery. I ordered the chrome GM grill from Rick's & it came yesterday. It came in a GM box, it had been chromed on the edge by somebody & wrapped in newspaper. Grill looks alot better & is not as flimsey as the import. Currant price is $144.00. I will be installing in the next couple of weeks. Anybody know how is making this part for Rick?

Once I install I will post on the fit.

I run about a finger width. Check your pinion angle. shaft maybe running to straight, that will make it vibrate.

Could you use a headlight switch to run it? Wire it so when you pull it out, it turns on & use the dome light reastat to control the speed.

I was looking in Rick's catalog & they show 3 differant ones, a chromed import, a US made one, & a Gm chromed one. I'am going to give them a call. The one I bought from another place was the import from Taiwan. Seems to be to narrow on one end & don't line up with HL covers. The one I was replacing was a black Gm I bought in 2000.

What about the repo chrome grills? I bought one for my car & was't that happy with the quality of it. Is there more than one maker? It was made overseas. The HL covers were way better Quality and made in the USA. Whats everybody doing for replacements? I have never seen a new NOS chrome. Thanks JW

When using it have someone help you. Have them try to start it, while its cranking over give it a shot. It should start. Like JohnZ said check and make sure its shooting gas.

They are what ever stock is. The spacer I used was made by Mr. Gasket, I think it is around 7/16. If you have front drums you won't need it. Front tires are 215-60-15  rears 255-60-15. No rubbing at all. Hope this helps John

I have some on my 68. They are about year & half old. The new ones are all uni-lug and have alot better chrome on them ibn the lug area. If you have a factory disk brake car you will have to run a spacer in the front to keep the calipers from hitting the spokes. I have 15x6 on front & 15x7 on rear. They give it that Grumpy Jenkins Super Stock look!

Stop by Autozone & have them put it on the scanner. Maybe something simple.

Thanks Chris, For sharing your bad experence with us. Thats what I'am finding out is they have to grind on them so much that it deforms them. Today I was able to track down a set of NOS ones from a Friend of a Friend right here in my local area. After I looked at them real close the quality of the orignals arn't that great. There is acually silver paint on the outside of the stacks.

Thanks for everybodys input, John

Thanks for the replys. I will give Camaro Specialties a call. I also have a couple other leads on some NOS ones.
Chris, What was the problem with getting them rechromed? Did they lose all the detail. Who did the work.

Thanks, John
