Originality / '67 fuel tank question.
« on: February 25, 2009, 03:26:41 PM »
If I remember correctly, the assembly manual shows that the filler tube is attached to the tank by being soldered.  My body guy says it is clamped on both ends with the rubber sleeve.  When I did my '69 tank I remembered that the tank came with the filler neck attached.....

What is the correct way to mount the filler neck and be correct?

I am going with the blue one..... even though I do not have the space saver tire.... maybe if I leave the spare tire deflated it would be true and correct  ;)

ahhhhh......

thanks for the reply. i am still not 100% certain what is the correct sticker..... i guess i have a 50/50 shot

did you have the space saving tire or a regular size tire?

What was the correct jack instruction sticker that goes on the decklid?  I read in Hoopers book that the sticker was supposed to be blue print.  I ordered a conv sticker from NPD and the print is black and the code is correct (3909135), according to the assembly manual.  According to NPD's catalog the blue one is 3919193.  From what I can tell is is the space saver tire sticker.   So my question is if I put the black printed jack instruction sticker on the decklid would it be correct?

I have looked through all my manuals and books and can't find the answer.

thanks

so the standard fenders have the brackets as well?  for some reason I thought that the brackets were only for the rs?  sounds like here they both have the brackets and the rs are back towards the firewall more?

I guess the only truly way to know what you have is to be the original owner or part of a family of the original owner, etc..  If you buy BJ or Ebay, you leave yourself open to fraud and you are on your own (buyer beware).  Now if you get a fix-r-upper that is truly rusted out with docs and the numbers match you might have better luck.

The days of johnny went to Vietnam and didn't come back and by the way his car is in barn are long over......

the rotissorie made working on the bottom easy.  we painted the bottom of the car while it was on the rotissorie and the butternut yellow when if was on the ground.  the fenders, hood, trunk, etc.....was all painted off the car individually.  also when we took the car off the rotissorie we painted the parts of the frame that we missed.  no big deal really. hope this helps somewhat

we used two different colors. both epoxy primer.  gray and black.  gray on the outside and black on the inside.  no real reason.  we only por 15 the inside used black on the inside trunk and passenger area.  I think the spatter paint will go over better on the black than the gray.

For some reason I thought Reggie Jackson got a camaro that had the -- on it.  It was a special paint order.  I remember seeing it for sale long ago, maybe ten years or more.  I want to say it was Reggie Jacksons but I may be wrong.

The older I get the less I remember.......

I went with the Eastwood Spray Gray, for the natural metal finish.  So far so good.  More pictures soon on the site.... unfortuntely the time this is taking is long..... but I think in the end it will be well worth it....I ordered the Eastwood black/aqua for the trunk spatter and it comes with the diamond clear satin so I have my fingers crossed on the correct match and gloss.

they haven't let me down yet.. haha
