All transmissions use this system ,69 up.But if your not concerned with originality you can go with the universal transmission mounted switch.

I have an extra set-up shown in the previous picture(Auto trans.) if you want to go that route.Steve.

The back-drive rod goes from the reverse arm on the trans. to a bell crank mounted on the frame below the brake booster or master cyl. Then a rod up to the column arm. This set-up activates the B/U lamp switch and locks the trans in reverse when the key is out.If you have headers installed there's no room for this system. You can get a switch and bracket to mount at the trans to activate the B/U lamps.Hurst has a universal part for this purpose or Heartbeat City #ELC1066.Steve.

Thanks x77 for the info.I priced it at a GM dealer and the price is $9.95 retail and $8.66 with the trade discount. No shipping. The people on E-bay are careful not to disclose the part #.Steve.

The switch is on the steering column down past the Ign. Sw.If you don't have the back drive linkage hooked up you won't be able to activate the B/U switch.

Originality / 69 Cowl Induction Question
« on: January 02, 2008, 10:03:47 PM »
On a cowl ind.air cleaner assy.you have the air cleaner base then the riser ring then the flange the seal ring attaches to.My question is this,On the flange ring there is a bent lip on the inside radius,What position does this lip go?I want to install the REAR decal. Also what is the purpose of this bend? The riser ring has this bent lip that mates to the distributor dent.So that one makes sense. Thanks in advance,Steve.
