Decoding/Numbers / Trans date vs. engine date code
« on: December 03, 2008, 06:25:50 PM »
What is the normal range for a dated block vs. dated mincie? If your car is a 3E, block code 0320 what would the correct range of dates for a trans be? Second week in March?

Originality / Floor plugs - for lack of any other discription
« on: July 14, 2008, 10:45:41 PM »
A very knowledgeable and helpful Camaro enthusiast told me the 4 floor plugs and 2 trunk plugs are installed "bubble" up and are not painted, left natural silver. He has never lead me wrong in the past but before I pull up my dynomat and replace them I just wanted to double check. Not that  I am doubting you (Kevin), just wanted to make 100% sure.

Maintenance / Re: DZ 302 Timing Valve Question...

Might be off topic a little but what are you using to rotate the engine. I can't seem to keep the socket on the HB bolt. I have two blue thumb nails from slips. I did remove all the plugs but the engine is a bear to turn. I was hoping to make my final value adjustments before I install the smog system due to the fact the the value covers hit the smog value.

Restoration / Re: RS - wiring route to Alternator
« on: May 10, 2008, 01:49:14 AM »
Thanks for the reply. The clip in the fender is correct since  its right after the split for the marker and driving light feeds. The wire going to the alt has to leave the clip and go straight across to the alt bracket, right in front of the washer jar. Just dosen't seem right. Every other RS pic I have been able to find has the alt feed comming up from behind the jar. It seems the alt feed was made to short. American wire harness. Thanks I apprecaite the reply.  hope someone with an original RS can shed some light.

Restoration / RS - wiring route to Alternator
« on: May 09, 2008, 11:43:20 PM »
I'm just finishing up my wiring and after I connect the wire clip to the side of the pass fender I only have enough slack to get the wiring to run in front of the washer fluid res straight to the alternator with very little slack left. Is this correct? If not where should the wire route to feed to the alt? I have searched the AIm and all eBay cars without one route being prevalent. Thanks. I almost think I will need to un-wrap the harness and move the push-in (attached to the side pass fender) back up the harness some distance.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Don

Originality / Re: RS Vacuum hose route.

Thanks guys, it does seem that the wire gutter would be the place to run the hose.

The 69 AIM shows the hose not in the wire tray but its tough to make out if its between the firewall and the distrib or between the carb and the distrib. It seems 68's and 69's are different. I was hoping it didn't go through the wire gutter since I already cut it to short. Thanks for the replies guys!!!

"It does not go into the wire gutter.  It joins into a strap near the wiper motor."

Then in front of or behind the distributer? Need to make my final cuts of the hose's and want to make sure they are router correctly before I cut them incorrectly.
Thanks for this info so far.

Would any one know if the hose from the vacuum source goes in the wire tray, between the distrib and firewall or in front of the dist to the manifold? Seems like it should go through the wire gutter but the AIM shows it going between the carb and the dist. (I think).
Thanks
