I still think that they are incorrect as my vehicle has CAC (K19) therefore it should have YN springs not the YZ. I guess it could be that somebody just picked up the wrong ones on the assembly line.
Yes the 6cyl with C.A.C. is another beast, YN would be correct for you Alastair assuming you have a coupe, the convertible has another # again.

« on: March 09, 2010, 12:13:39 AM »Regarding the 'June' date, I thought that someone might decode the 'M68' with the 6 = the 6 month of the year, June, and the 8 as the year. Or the 68 could just be the 2 digit year.
Thanks for the reply and that is a good call you have made. This gets back to my original question, what are those other 2 digits.....6 & 8?

I am wondering then in this case, what do the #6 & #8 digits indicate? ie" M68

This could be a January block for all we know but obviously it must be made before the stamped date.

This is an 07D car by the cowl tag.
The block cast date is M68 and the block pad stamp is V0510MO. Am I correct in assuming by the casting date and referring back to the block pad stamping that at best this could be a May block? Then those 2 #'s would correlate to one another. Also, I am assuming this is an "M" date casting which as I read there are no ways to confirm when it was made?
At this particular time of production, were there any delays with parts etc. to hold this car up?
Seller says the VIN is correct on the block, no pics though but is there a possibility this is the born with engine for this car?
Did "M" cast blocks still have the day and year cast alongside the "M" as other block date castings did?

I have never seen the #'s at all over the years. I did look through my GM parts and illustrations manual and I cannot find the #'s anywhere. I have a couple of versions and if they are there then they are hard to find, they are not in the sections where they should be from what I found.
You have a good lead from Camaro Billy.
Should you come up with #'s, I can ask my GM Lady to do a search and see if we can trace the history of them.

« on: February 28, 2010, 01:45:02 PM »There was one report on TC of someone using the newly-tooled moldings about maybe a year ago. Supposedly a lot better than the old ones.
I have also heard from another source that the newly tooled moldings were much better, but I have no first hand knowledge of them though.

« on: February 05, 2010, 01:41:18 AM »Dont use sand paper or a wire brush on the engine pad. You will ruin the broach marks if there are any.
Good call, of course proceed with caution, but my numbers were in the rough casting of the block and there is no way would sandpaper or a wire brush remove anything that is was not meant to, ie: paint and grime etc.
