Restoration / motor mount pedestals

Why did GM have different height pedestals on the frame for the motor mounts?  What cars had them and which side does the taller one go on?.   thanks  Pete

Restoration / exhaust clamps
« on: November 04, 2007, 07:51:13 PM »
Does anyone know exactly what exhaust clamps were used on a 67 camaro SS/BB.  The catalogs show a cast end on a u-bolt and states original GM.  In my assenbly manual, It shows two different types, one on  the pipes before the hangers and a different style where the pipes go into the muffler.  Neither are with a cast botton.  H E L P.   thanks Pete

What should be the correct casting # and suffix code stamping on the front for a 1967 SS camaro with power disc brakes.  Also on an original delco moraine brake booster are the O's in delco moraine split into two half moons or are they a complete O?  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

What is the correct design for the exhaust system on a 67 SS camaro, 396? The first one came and the exhaust ends at the rear quarter were round instesd of oval.  Also I noticied the head pipes from manifolds are appox 2 1/4" and before the bend there is a weld changing down to a 2".  Is this correct.  Who has the Correct exhaust for this car.  Thanks in advance.

Thank you john and mark,  Now, I presume the amp gauge is or was bad?  We bought the car 1 1/2 years ago, drove it home and began restoring.  I do not know if all gauged worked.  thanks for the help.  Pete

Restoration / Help! electrical question?
« on: September 11, 2007, 11:04:08 PM »
I am cleaning the wiring harness on my 67 B.B. camaro when I noticied on the harness from the fuse box out across the core support including the horn relay and headlights two orange fusable links in the harness blown. I traced each one and they go to the plug going into the back of the fuse block.  one is black and the other is black with white tracer. In the electrical print from my assenbly manual these two wires do not exist. they are part of the harness and not add on. Could these been from an option or maby for the consol gauge package? Would the print in the assembly manual show wiring for options? Is there any way to replace these short orange fusable links.  Any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you   Pete

Restoration / 1967 Suspension
« on: September 07, 2007, 01:42:06 AM »
I am converting my camaro back to the original four piston calipers.  Someone at onetime converted the car over to the 1969 style single piston caliper.  I bought all original GM parts to convert it back.  But, I am noticing that if I turn the wheels to either direction the bracket that bolts to the caliper to support the rubber brake hose will hit the rubber suspension bumper before the steering stop on the lower control stops the steering.  There is no weight on the suspeions, but I do not see where this would change anything.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I changed the calipers, caliper mounting brackets, rotors, brake lines, brake line mounting bracket on the calipers.

Restoration / rear inner bumper supports
« on: August 10, 2007, 01:14:50 AM »
On the inside of the trunk did the 67 camaro have the support brackets spotwelded to the trunk floor up to the quarter panel for the outter bumper bolts or was this only on the 68/69 cars. Mine has the original quarters, based on the stamping in the upper outter trunk area, but does not have these brackets.  Both of my 69 camaro's does.  thanks  Pete
