I'm curious ... what the drive shaft markings mean?  I guess I'm not familiar with them.
Thanks in advance.

I like the looks of the vinyl roofs, especially the original ones.  If the roof is in good shape and the car is going to be garage kept and not much bad weather, I would think a new vinyl top would hold up nicely and look good for years to come.

How can we know if we have an original hood or not? ???

The orginal hoods had "notch" on the side edges of the hood up near the hoods meet the windshield.  The Repro hoods do not have that little notched out area and are smooth on the side edges.

Originality / 9561 Exhaust System Choices
« on: January 11, 2008, 06:57:52 PM »
Seems to me (after some research) that for the 1969 9561 COPO, one really had only 2 choices of exhaust systems.  Either the Chambered Dual Exhaust or the Deep Tone Dual Exhaust with a single muffler in front of the trunk.  Ordering a dual exhaust with dual resinators does seem to have been an option.  Is this true, or am I just making this up?

All axles were painted black as a complete unit.

Is this true on '69's as well?  I have it very good authority that the entire rear and axle should be painted black (this after I already have completely detailed in natural metal).  What black should be used?
Thanks in advance.

Restoration / Transmission detailing question
« on: July 23, 2007, 09:38:30 PM »
When the TH400 bolted up to big block engine in a Camaro back in 1969, how was it detailed, i.e. colors? I have heard that it was just the natural alumium and not that Chevy engine Orange. Is that true for the bell housing and pan too?  My TH400 is 100% natural (gray bear metal) and would like to detail it correctly. I have already done my rear which came out great in natural coat and since have learned that it should have been paint ALL black. So Now I have to redo that!!!  >:(  I don't want to make the same mistake on the tranny. Any help as always, is appreciated (on the rear and the tranny).  ;D

What database is that you all are speaking of?  What's in it and how do the vins get into this database.  How are they verified?
Thanks.
