How do you remove the ignition switch on a 68 camaro. All dash lights will come on with key but when I turn to start  the lights go off and starter does not turn over. Also the door buzzer works with the key removed with door open

Does anyone make the correct cowl plenum lid in steel. I have seen fiberglass but I require a steel lid. Thanks

I use a 160 degree thermostat and also use a couple small bottles of Royal Purple Rad cool . My car is a 68 Z28 with a stock 302. I am able to drive in 90 degree weather all day long. Try this and see. I use to run a 185 thermostat but it was too hot and when the stat finally opened and it was to late for the rad and cooling system to bring temps back down. Just a thought

Restoration / Re: A.I.R. Pulley Mounting
« on: June 21, 2010, 01:44:55 AM »
My 68 Z  has the pulley mounted so the numbers are visaible from the front of the engine bay. I do not no if it is correct but thats the way it was mounted when I dug the A.I.R  out of the trunk years ago.

Maintenance / Re: John Z vacuum seyup
« on: May 31, 2010, 12:45:17 AM »
I did this setup on my 68 Z and I must say it was the best thing I have done for the car. It is crazy how much nicer the 302 is to drive just by changing the canister and doing Johns vacuum setup . It takes five minutes but what a improvement for the street.

Maintenance / Re: setting my timing

I figured out that the car has the wrong timing cover on it. It is a 69 cover were the timing tang is 10 degrees off from a 68 Z

I had the same trouble years back and it ender up being a small screw that goes up between the Speedo and Fuel pods. It grounds out the bezel . There was a small steel tang that the screw went through into the steel dash. Just a thought
