Originality / Re: Service Engines (CE coded)

I would like to see a better pic of the CE stamping on the pad with the area carefully cleaned first. What I see so far is not typical.

Dana, are the holes on the drivers side threaded?

Yep. And convertible cars that had full size frames (like Chevelles) were heavier/thicker.

I think things are right now. Thanks Ed for sticking with this topic.  I am pretty sure 67-68 NOR dual exhaust cars had things as described previously, not sure about LOS cars.

Block has been lightly decked but stamping looked original to me.

Axle appears to be original too.

It's an early LOS car.

All small block and L6 heater boxes are the same. Big blocks are different.

This link might be helpful.

Read this. Been working on a report for years. It's close to being ready.

What year are you talking about?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Is this my born with transmission?

He is wrong.

Partial VIN on the transmission seems real.

I don't remember if you have given us any details on the engine and axle.

Research Topics & Reports / Re: Hurst Shifter date codes
« on: November 05, 2016, 09:52:15 PM »
You can dig it out and post if you want. At the beginning I had posted a couple of Pontiac shifter codes.

Other GM divisions were using Hurst shifters several years before Chevrolet.

I just don't want us to lose focus. No we don't understand everything, but I feel we are on the right track with the date codes used for 69 Camaro Hurst shifters.

Generally, at this point, we are looking at codes from 69 Camaro Hurst shifters. I am pretty sure coding changed for 70 and later. Let's try to not muddy the water too much. Let's stick with original Hurst shifters from original 69 Camaros.

The three adapters I have are to go the other direction, so they won't help.

But let me do some thinking.  If I come up with another solution, I will let you know.

GreenNV,

You are pretty new here. Did you ever introduce yourself and tell us your background? New insight is always welcome here, just don't try to set the world on fire. Eh?

Your observations are interesting, but don't seem to fit what we have observed in original cars.

I am going to assume you have read this thread? Link below.

If that still doesn't help, I have 3 speedo adapters, and might be able to loan one out for you to try before you purchase a new one.
