General Discussion / Re: 1969 M22 breakdown of Quantities
« on: January 14, 2017, 04:49:34 PM »
My L78 came with M20 (and 410) guy raced the car, was it common to order M20 for racing?

What year?  If you are talking 1969, I believe to get an M20 with a 4.10 rear it would have had to have been ordered that way.  Not common in general.

It could be Fathom Blue original paint.  Could be.

From the exterior colors section I grabbed this paragraph.  By the time that car was built, Fathom Blue was not a standard color.

In 1968, two colors, Tuxedo Black and Cordovan Maroon, started the year common to both Camaro and Corvette. In January 1968, three additional Corvette colors were added to Camaro, with specific marketing attention given to the fact that they were Corvette colors applied to Camaro. These three were Corvette Bronze, LeMans Blue, and British Green. (In addition to these three, Rallye Green was another mid-season Camaro color addition. Together they replaced Fathom Blue, Grecian Green, Palomino Ivory, and Tuxedo Black for the remainder of 1968.) As a result, Corvette shared a total of five colors with Camaro in 1968.

-2 means the body color was special paint with a black convertible top.

Check that car over with someone you trust. Looks like a decent car from the pics. But look for rust or repairs.

Does it have a 12 bolt and if so what are the numbers and letters stamped on the front edge of the passenger side axle tube?

RS convertible is awesome, if you like convertibles.

No way to tell how many still exist. Some of the data is based on paperwork only, engine only, trans only, etc.

Many of us are constantly searching for new data.

I can't take a look at this for details right now, car is tucked away for the winter.

Also can't guarantee it is original.  Could be it was added based on the AIM drawing.

I will try to check closer in a month or so.

John, I split your post and the ones after it into a new thread.

Post up some pics when you can.  Welcome to the site!

I think I remember JohnZ posting that it was the cheapest black paint they could get.

Corvette pearl silver - I wonder how he seems to know the original color.

I think he is just "testing the waters" with that price.

I wasn't making a general statement but an earlier post left me thinking.

I believe those Communications kits, like Darrell posted, were normally done monthly.  I have had some before.  An old dealership had three large stacks of them a few years ago, but I was not able to purchase them all.
