I don't care what anyone else thinks, until I want to sell it.

?

Apparently you do, because you asked for opinions.

I assume by the description that maybe Danny still owns it.
All the best on the sale!! What a great car!!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/282329662147?rmvSB=true

I think he does as I just sent him something for it. Was surprised JerryM stated in his report "correct dip stick is needed for the engine, should have round handle with gray tip."  Hopefully he will add info as it becomes available but good luck Danny!

If I remember, I will ask Jerry about this today.  I think there were two types, and what is on the car now seems correct to me.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions and I feel they are all spot on....Ill check the sites you mentioned and see whats out there. Im curious as to what you guys think about the timing of buying a higher dollar car at this time? Do you think the market is up or down on the Z's and BB cars? Thanks again for all the advice...

It's a crap shoot on high dollar cars in my opinion.  People invest in cars like that, and then they sit because the owner doesn't want it to lose value.

If you want one to drive, there are plenty of nice cars out there for less (but they won't be nice AND original).  You don't have to have an all original car to enjoy it.  There are some nice cars out there in the $25k to $35k range.

Yes, good luck Danny.  Hoping 2017 and beyond are much brighter than last year for you.

Generally for Norwood cars, the VIN font characters will all be the same size.  Not the case for LOS, where there are variations.

There are known variances to VIN stamps, and axle stamps, but these are generally grouped in blocks of time.  For example, what was going on in 1967, would not be going on in 1969.

Hello guys, New member here with a question. I realize there is not a classified section here, so Im looking for suggestions on where to search, other than ebay,  for a really nice original 69 Z/28 or Big block car that is ready to go and not a re stamp. Thanks and great site!

A car like what you are looking for will take a significant investment.  Probably $60,000 or more.

Speaking philosophically, but truthfully, I don't think the timing is right for such an investment - for anyone.

Some vehicles get into the auction market, and stay there.  Sold again and again.  Like a hot potato.

Garage Talk / Re: 69 302 on pump gas?
« on: January 18, 2017, 09:25:29 PM »
Mixing 2 cycle oil into the gas is nothing new.  I have done it in my trucks for years.  Like an ounce per tank.  Doesn't need much.

An old racers trick is to run MMO in aviation fuel if you think it is too "dry".

93 octane pump gas with a 302 can be done, but not universally with full timing.  Usually, as many have stated, you have to back the timing off or mix in some higher octane fuel.

Looks like Kurt fixed my typo - thanks!

And looks like he split this car away into a new thread, which should help with confusion.

Engine stamps don't look original to me. I did not see a pic of the transmission or axle in this thread or in the eBay listing.

Muncie is from a 64 or 65 Chevy. Not original.

Axle with the BT code could be original.

General Discussion / Re: 1969 M22 breakdown of Quantities
« on: January 15, 2017, 07:59:11 PM »
The 2117 number is not just a CRG number, it is posted in multiple sources and it had to come from Chevrolet or GM records at some point.

So any breakdown of the M20, M21, M22 numbers for the 427 cars?

Should probably be more than 73 of the cars with 427 engines that had M22s.

My L78 came with M20 (and 410) guy raced the car, was it common to order M20 for racing?

What year?  If you are talking 1969, I believe to get an M20 with a 4.10 rear it would have had to have been ordered that way.  Not common in general.
