"As is - no warranty". Better look it over with a fine tooth comb. That rust showing may only be the start of what it has.

What is the casting date of the center section on the axle and what is the complete assembly stamped information on the front edge of the passenger side axle tube?

In 68, BE is a 2.56 open axle. In 69 it's the 4.10 posi COPO axle.

Originality / Re: Service Engines (CE coded)

Unfortunately due to several factors I wasn't able to check the 69 350 CE block last weekend that I have in storage. Too many other things were going on. But I will check it when I can and report back.

Finally had a chance to check,

It's a 3959512 Flint block, cast A 7 9 and stamped CE9A35702, with 02 9 V stamped on the starter mounting area.

Mild Modifications / Re: 67 Firebird gauges in 67 Camaro

Did some checking. The four gauge type would not be an easy swap. I have a regular Firebird speedo/gas gauge setup and will try to post pics of that later.

I agree with Chick. Somewhat depends on rear gears.  Less than 4.10 shouldn't be a problem.

I am guessing you probably have a 3.31 ratio axle?

Check the hidden/partial VIN on top of the cowl.

the full assembly code is T1030IMR - he also forgot to tell me about that pesky 1 after the T!

I am guessing he needs to have his glasses checked. Most likely IVR which is 396/325hp from a big car (Impala).

Let us know...

Restoration / Re: Source for 302 cylinder heads
« on: April 14, 2017, 12:20:20 PM »
If there is a good shop near you and they have the correct machine - you can have them convert some 1.94 heads to 2.02 reasonably. They will just need to unshroud the valve when they do the other work. In most cases, if they know what they are doing, your flow may end up better than factory 2.02 heads.

From other posts, JohnZ says they use a 2.34" diameter cutter.

I believe mine was white from the factory, based on removing multiple layers of paint.  It's black now, and will PROBABLY stay that way.

I don't have answers, but I am interested in you questions. Hopefully someone has done this. I think you also asked over on the Team Camaro site, right?

General Discussion / Re: Camaro build date
« on: April 13, 2017, 06:19:04 PM »
I guess I just didn't know that it was that short of a time from start to finish. My 68 Z/28 was an 02E car but wasn't completed till March 13th. If it was a short build, what would've held up that car?. Thanks again, Joe

Any unusual options on the car? What is the axle code?

Maybe not factory height, but current ride height looks good to me.

If the 3.31 axle is original - and I didn't see any way of verifying that - it might have been an SS350 originally.

A lot of SS350 cars have been cloned over to Zs. That's sad.
