Possible. But I have never heard that terminology used on a Chevrolet produced product.

Could be that the car was being sold on consignment and dealership didn’t check the documentation over very well. I am not sticking up for anyone.

Whoever faked the paperwork will need to suffer the consequences.

Where exactly (which facility) did Fast Eddie work at and what was his position?

Side exhaust was not Regular Production Option (RPO) for any First Generation Camaro. Did the car go through the GM Tech Center before he received it?

Since the owner has passed away, as mentioned, the best way to find the car would be from the VIN.

For now, none of us know the whole story. I would cut them a little slack.

Buyers always need to do their homework first. Assume nothing.

Personally I am not a fan of just walking into a classic car dealer and buying a car that is finished. I have a lot more respect for guys that dig cars out of shelter belts, old garages, warehouses, etc. - and then they invest their own blood, sweat and tears into the build. But maybe that’s just me.

Yes, I agree it would be nice to hear a true story of an engine being reunited with the car it came from.

I know of 2 Lemans Blue 1968 Z28s that were wrecked and I am 99 percent sure they were crushed in the 70s.

I know of another 1968 Z28 that was wrecked pretty bad around 1980 and it had some rust by that point too. I doubt it is around today.  The engine from that car was in a late 30s street rod the last I heard about it 15 or so years ago.

There is always hope, but people should not get their hopes too high.

Glad you are doing ok Bill but take it easy.  Do exactly what they say as far as rehab.

Chris, so the original axle / rear end is missing from the car?

Can you post a pic of the passenger side of the floorboard area? Is there evidence of a radius rod mount?

Yes it would have to be an early car.

I am not sure it’s Fathom Green though. Looks like a blend of Rallye Green and Fathom Green.

Check out the rockers, probably not 100% gloss. lol 😆

And I am not 100 percent convinced that is an original Muncie firewall hole. It might be fine, I just can’t say with complete certainty that it is.

From the listing...

"Has correct date coded (but non original or numbers matching) L-48 350 (295 hp) and M-20 Muncie 4-speed for correct restoration."

From that I gather the original transmission was not with the car at time of purchase.
