$6500 Buy it Now seems aweful high - unless you have the car.

In reading that section again, I noted a small error in Jerry's book, when he says the change  in the differential housing from the .3894860NF to the 3989341NF pn occurred in September'69.   The differential in my mid Sept '69 Z28 has the 341 housing assembly dated '0829', so that change occurred earlier than stated.

We continue to investigate and add data points for the change-over time from when the 860 housing ended and the 341 housing started.  There appears to be at least a small overlap.

See this thread...

I am thinking about a response.  Not sure exactly what all to say at this point.

Saw this one yesterday but did not get a picture.  Was in a 70 Camaro at one time so perches had been moved.  Was either in a 70 Nova or 69 Camaro originally from what I could tell.
Casting number  3894860
Casting date      F 24 9
Stamped code   C BM 0807G1

Does anybody else want to share data?

However there was 124378L300103, Palomino white with a black bench seat, Black V top, with legit Astro windows.
That would have been correct.  The Astro Ventilation windows were early in the 1968 model year.

Not that I know of, but if you have some specific bolts you have questions on, go ahead and post them and someone should be able to help.

Somewhere in the early 70s (I think 1972) Holley carbs went from a 3 digit date to a 4 digit date.  For a 4 digit date code, the first 3 characters represented the Julian date (1 through 366) and the last character represented the year of the decade.

3 digit date codes were prior to about 1972, and I believe the digits were for year, month, week.

The UX codes (July 68) on the quarter glass seem in line for a car built in September of 1968.

The door glass does not seem to be original to me.

445 is questionable.  I would say the others are OK.

FWIW, most of the original paint ones that I remember on cars from the 70s and 80s seemed to have full or nearly full coverage.  The adhesion issue varied and if the car was ever driven in the winter with salt on the roads that seemed to make it worse.

I remember a 69 Impala that an older lady owned.  She mainly drove it just on Sundays (no kidding) and never in the rain.  That was a very nice old original car with low miles.  Bellhousing on that car had full coverage.

I think this is one of the threads Jerry was talking about.

Thanks for posting that John.  Yours looks very nicely done.

I suspect that there was variation, depending on the person doing the job, that persons mood, day of the week, etc. etc.

Looks like there was a number out of order in the VIN posted.

I think maybe it should be 124379N619080
