You are correct Gary.  Full size (L78 only) and Corvette where the only vehicles that COULD get an M22 in 1965. Production was very low, 57 total units. Source, Alan Colvin.

The transmission in the car is not a 1965 M22.  Its a 1965 M20 or M21.

There were VERY limited numbers of M22s in 1965.

it's got the original drive train from engine to axel
numbers match the vin. multi leaf rear end 4 speed 350 300 hp

What else would you want? You also have the build month and week, original interior and exterior colors shown on the trim tag.

The section at this link might be helpful.

I am not going to list every little detail on how to identify one.

I gotcha. Thanks for answering my question. So the easiest way for them to make a fake sticker though, is to start with an original, and then based on this example they could just stick it over another sticker if they wanted.
So in some ways is verifying a  68 Z similar to identifying a 69 L.A. Z car?
Since there is no X codes, you just going over components?

There are numerous steps to indentifying a 68 Z28.

Posts in the Original Cars and Details section posts only be started by Admin.  The "Survivor" section name was changed for a couple of reasons.

Start it in the General Discussion section and then if appropriate, we can move it.

I think the tire sticker is OK based on what I see.  I have seen it before where one sticker was applied over another.

Great news.

You were wise to keep things quiet until things were solidified on the deal.

Sleeves usually are not a problem.

The areas in the rear where it was damaged and repaired (both sides) are what I would be worried about.

OK, so what do you need to identify?  I am confused.

All you posted were three words of text.  Did you mean to also include a pic?

I think you are right. It was some type of clutch/pressure plate/flywheel failure that caused the damage.  And people need to remember to also run the block plate when the run a scatter shield.  It's good insurance.

So ???  The round top 3? Vs flat top 3 and the unaligned vin??  Can you explain or is that one of the non discussed things on here for forgery issues?

Not discussed here.

The stampings appear to be genuine.

For what it is worth, that depends on a lot of things.  You can try the TC site, they have a section on
"What's it worth?"

See this link. You will have to register for that forum.
