For us less informed, can you show what a correct number looks like or state why it is wrong?
I would love to learn what to look for when it comes to the correct numbers and locations
Thanks for your comments
Terry

Did you buy this car advertised as an all original car and pay a premium price?

The Engine and Transmission VIN derivative stamps were both done at the same time with the same tool as the 2 pieces were being prepared for installation on the factory assembly line

That’s not always true. Your blanket statement is not 100% correct.

Timing isn’t right for me now but I would have been interested 8 months ago - and will be again in about 4 years from now.

Hardly a barn find.  Restored in the 80s most likely.

It looks like a genuine MV engine and the partial VIN is correct.  Have seen that before on LOS cars.

It's too bad then messed with the stamp to try and make an MO.  If you want let me know and I will try to post the pic you sent me.

It’s still missing a digit in the VIN, so has to be an error somewhere.

There are some obvious issues with the stampings on this car.

But I will stick with what I said earlier.

British Green 1968 Z28, original BW coded 4.56 axle, lots of original parts, but original block and transmission are gone. Not sure how much sheet metal replaced.

Most of the information about the car is in this thread.

Chris the 2 places mentioned would be the best places to list it. No for sale ads allowed on this site.

Correct. Just wanted to see if anyone was paying attention. :)

Napa store is close to me and gives me a discount. They get plenty of my business.

I asked JohnZ a few years ago about Shell Rotella and it was fine then, so should be now.

I use NAPA Gold filters.

There are a few cases with wide separation between casting and assembly. Usually with big blocks though.
