Research Topics & Reports / L6 cylinder head casting numbers
« on: July 02, 2023, 08:09:53 PM »
I am working on a report for 67-69 Camaro cylinder head usage. I have the SBC and BBC numbers pretty much done, but I am struggling a bit with the L6 heads.

I assume that the 230 and 250 engines used the same head and probably the same casting number all 3 years, but can any of you verify?

Include
1. The head casting number
2. The casting date
3. Year of the engine.

Thanks in advance. If you photos are used, you will be giving credit.

Research Topics & Reports / Stewart Warner Speedo adapters
« on: June 15, 2023, 03:47:10 PM »
I have a question on the correct application for these SW speedometer adapters.  Also were there at least two suppliers and two types - SW and AC?

.7333 dated N4 - 1969 April - possibly for COPOs with 14 inch tires and L78 with 4.10 gears?

.8241 dated N11 - 1969 November - possibly for 1970 Z28 with 4.10 and LS6 Chevelles?

I asked my dad about these and where they might have come from, but he is pretty old and could not remember exactly.

I think those are the two most valuable. I have 2 others with different ratios and dates shown in the pics, dated R - 1972 and V - 1976.

Base V8 327 car.

Note the error - the first digit of the VIN is not 1 - it’s 1/2

Foreign Camaros / A 1968 Antwerp Camaro
« on: February 19, 2022, 05:09:53 PM »
This car is the earliest 68 Antwerp Camaro that we know of so far.

I am starting this thread and will let the owner post some things about the car. I am hoping he will also consider posting at least a little about a 67 that he knows about.

Enjoy!

General Discussion / Posts asking about the database
« on: February 18, 2022, 04:15:33 PM »
I am not speaking for anyone else, but I am giving my opinions.

Took some hate email yesterday for being honest, probably harshly honest, but I needed to speak my mind.

The database was setup as a research tool, not for "every Tom, Dick, and Harry" to inquire if CRG has data on a specific car. The number of people with access is very limited, and that’s done by design. Some of that data was collected with the owner expecting the information to be kept confidential, some was pulled off the internet (eBay, Facebook, etc.), some collected by CRG members from personal inspections and by other means. And it’s not necessarily explicitly explained out as to “what is what” in the database.

If someone has questions about a car for sale, the appropriate way to ask would be something like this.

Hey guys I saw this car for sale, I am interested in buying it and wondered what your thoughts are on it.

If you are wanting opinions about original drivetrain components, post pics.

If you are really interested in buying the car, be careful not to share too much information. Someone else may to buy it before you! When I was looking for another car on Facebook, I had 2 cars bought out from under me by guys that saw responses to my ad and were closer to the car with cash in hand. So it can happen!

There are people that also collect data on cars and keep their own data on VINs and details. Sometimes people will share what they know.

People that post with a demanding type tone will not get a favorable response.

Those that ask about car after car after car will wear out their welcome.

True car guys do their own research for a purchase first, then ask for input. Nobody knows everything, nobody.

True car guys are on this site, but scammers and flippers can infiltrate every site. It’s not possible to keep them all out.

So my final thought is, enjoy your cars. Treat people with respect. Realize that relationships are more important than material items.

Have a nice day.

Lloyd also took pics of this car at MCACN in November and wants to share some of the original details.

This is the only pic I have of the car, and may replace it later if I get a better one.

Trans-Am Camaros / Single 4 barrel on a Cross Ram intake?
« on: December 21, 2021, 11:27:22 PM »
I am wondering if anyone has run a single Holley 4 barrel on a Cross Ram intake before.

I bought a 1981 dated Offenhauser Cross Ram intake and two 660 cfm carbs, but that was not going to be anywhere close to street friendly on the built 355 it was going on. So I sold the carbs and am now thinking about replacing it with a new top.  See pics.  The intake I have did have some minor grinding done on it to clearance the accelerator pump on the front of the passenger side carb area. This is generally not seen with a carb installed.

Original Cars and Details / Original 1967 Z28 - Mountain Green
« on: December 13, 2021, 04:14:00 AM »
Lloyd took a lot of pictures at a 1967 Z28 at MCACN 2021 (back in November) when it was judged and he will be posting them. I am starting the thread then will just monitor the progress. This car was owned by CRG's Jon Mello at one time.
I believe this is the car, but if it is not I will change the photo.

There are plans to also highlight another car Lloyd has pictures of in another post later this month. Stay tuned!

Research Topics & Reports / 67 SS hood photos needed
« on: October 08, 2021, 09:09:48 PM »
Ok I am putting this out there so we can try to get a CRG report on SS hoods finished up. What do we need?

67 SS396 hood (top and bottom views)

67 SS350 hood (bottom view) needs to be as early in the year as possible.

Thanks in advance!

OK need some help here in regards to possibly refining the CRG Driveshaft Report.  As with anything, we are always looking for new data and we update reports as we get new solid confirmed information.

Some recent information has surfaced that is suggesting there is yet another driveshaft that needs to be documented for 1967 and another for 1969.

If you have a Chassis Broadcast Copy (CBC) for 67,68 or 69 Camaro we would appreciate your help. These are quite rare, but they do surface sometimes. Would be interested in a clear photo of the whole sheet, or if you want to just include the 2 letter code and the propeller shaft (driveshaft) box, that is fine too.  For 69s it is box 230.

Thanks in advance.

You can post here or email me direct.

Not sure if this car has been discussed before or not.

It’s NOT Butternut Yellow. Too bright.

Can’t get photo to load, will resize and try later.
