Originality / Re: Pulley diameters - anyone have these pulleys
« on: March 22, 2017, 09:12:14 PM »
1969433. I bought this NOS pulley for my 1968 L6 Sport Coupe. There are no markings on the pulley. The O.D. is 2.25".

General Discussion / Re: Chassis Broadcast Sheet
« on: February 22, 2017, 09:14:28 PM »
In 1972 I bought a brand new Buick Skylark coupe. While on the lift for it's first oil change, I walked around the car checking out the chassis and found the broadcast sheet tucked in a frame slot just in front on the rear bumper. Of course, nobody cared back then.

Restoration / Re: Brake system brass tube seats - where to buy ???

Try Apple Hydraulics in New York. When they recently sleeved my M/C they supplied the two brass tube seats for $5. They may have what you need.

Could someone help decode this fuel pump's date? 297N. It's for a 1968 L6. Thanks.

6-cylinder Camaros / Re: Questions about '69 Six Air Cleaners
« on: October 11, 2016, 12:58:00 PM »
On the L6 engines, the smog pump air tubes are not fitted to the exhaust manifold but to the cylinder head. You should check to see if your cylinder head has these holes plugged. If it doesn't have the holes, perhaps it's the wrong cylinder head and/or engine. Does your engine have double-groove pulleys on the crankshaft, water pump and alternator which are used with the smog pump?

I'll keep your steering column in mind.

Here are some pics of my original everything '68 L6 with a 3 speed column shifter and no radio that I've owned for 28 years. I encourage you to keep your Camaro totally original.

On pump number 4, what does the Z signify? Also, why are date codes sometimes stamped outside of the machined area? I've seen this a few times

You stated that the master cylinder was sleeved, what's the status of the brake hoses and lines?

If I don't find the piston pretty soon, I'll have to go the cannabilization route. Thanks for all your input.

These are all very good alternatives. I do have a NOS GM rebuild kit with everything but the secondary piston. There has to be some out there, they were used on many GM cars from'67 to '72 with four wheel drum brakes. Secondary piston P/N 5452694.

Apple Hydraulics did the sleeving in brass. They offer a complete rebuild or sleeving only, which I opted for.

Thanks for the reply. I recently had the master cylinder sleeved and I've got a GM rebuild kit which doesn't include the secondary piston.
