Research Topics & Reports / Re: Original ignition coils
« on: September 19, 2018, 01:22:29 PM »
These photos are of my original 208 coil. Looks like semi-gloss. May have been shinier when new. Hope this helps. Joe.

Originality / Re: Correct starter restoration
« on: September 10, 2018, 04:56:57 PM »
This is the starter on my survivor '68 L6 coupe. The starter has never been removed from the engine. The solenoid is a GM replacement installed in the mid 90s.

In the WHEELS article, Craig mentioned his 1962 Catalina being chased by Minis at Mosport. I took these pictures at Mosport in October 1962 where I attended my first ever sports car race.

Sorry Robert, I don't.

I went to the first practice and qualification runs yesterday. Here are a few photos.

Hihorse. My own report went back to 1983 which is when my car entered Quebec. Perhaps Marriest could let us know how far back his went.

Terry, if you haven't done so already, send the linked form below to the SAAQ, Quebec's DMV. They will provide you with a Vehicle History Report that shows, besides basic vehicle data, the number of times and dates that the vehicle was registered in Quebec. Because of privacy laws, it no longer shows individual owner's names, however it will show commercial owner's names. It costs $12.25 Canadian dollars and has a three week turnaround time. You can fill out the form on-screen then print it out and mail it. On another note, do you have the dealer name plate? If you do, could you post a photo. I would love to see it. I grew up about three blocks from Park Avenue Chevrolet and spent countless hours there checking out the new cars. Joe.

Maintenance / Re: Master cylinder rebuild kits
« on: February 25, 2018, 12:32:25 PM »
Thanks for the reply, Ed. Do the pistons have to come from a new or rebuilt 5452310 M/C such as the one I'm rebuilding, or can they come from any aftermarket replacement M/C? I ask this because the GM shop manual mentions to use only replacement pistons that are coded the same as the original in order to retain the correct displacement capabilities.

Maintenance / Master cylinder rebuild kits
« on: February 24, 2018, 12:51:04 AM »
Original GM and current aftermarket rebuild kits don't include the secondary piston. The GM secondary piston is impossible to find. Does anyone know of any vintage aftermarket kits that do include the secondary piston? Manufacturer and part number? It's for my '68 manual drum/drum coupe. Delco Moraine. 1" bore. Thanks, Joe.

Marriest. Thought you'd like to see a photo of where your car was bought new. A fifteen minute walk from the house I grew up in.

Which are the better shocks, KYB stock replacements or Delco stock replacements? Thanks, Joe.

Maintenance / Wagner master cylinder stop screw
« on: July 22, 2017, 08:27:20 PM »
I have a factory rebuilt Wagner master cylinder P/N R64986 coded BS for my '68 manual drum/drum car. It has the provision for a stop screw for the secondary piston but no stop screw. Are the stop screws no longer necessary or was this an oversight during the rebuild? Thanks, Joe.

Decoding/Numbers / Cowl Markings
« on: May 05, 2017, 01:03:34 PM »
While cleaning my '68 L6 Sport Coupe I noticed the large TEL marking on the cowl as well as the A13 stamp just above and to the left. The exterior colour is Teal Blue so I'm guessing that this had to be noted on the cowl. Is this often seen, and for what purpose? Is the A13 a date code? My car is an 04A. Thanks, Joe.
