General Discussion / Assembling Components Onto Engines Time Line
« on: August 07, 2010, 12:42:31 PM »
At what point were bolt-on engine components, such as power steering and A.I.R. pumps, attached to the engine, during engine assembly or just prior to the engine being dropped in the chassis? This information would be very useful when locating dated components. Thanks, Joe.

Originality / 1968 Parts Book Info Needed Group 3.650 to 3.675
« on: March 21, 2010, 05:59:51 PM »
Would somebody be kind enough to post, or e-mail me directly the two pages that show the part numbers for Groups 3.650 and 3.675 in the GM parts book for my 1968 Sport Coupe? I have a Canadian GM parts book which doesn't list the A.I.R. parts as they were not mandatory in Canada until 1969. As my car was originally sold in the U.S., it did have the A.I.R. system, which I would now like to install. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Joe

6-cylinder Camaros / 1968 A.I.R Smog Pump Part Number
« on: March 19, 2010, 09:56:25 PM »
Can anyone verify the smog pump part number for my 1968 L6 manual transmission car? I have seen listed 7802609, but it wasn't from the GM parts book.
If anyone has the same engine, I would really appreciate seeing pictures of the setup. Thanks, Joe.

Originality / 1968 Glove Box Documentation
« on: February 24, 2010, 04:10:41 PM »
I would like to know what factory glove box documentation came with 1968 cars when delivered from the dealer. I already have the Owners Manual and Owner Protection Plan with POP. Since my car was equiped with the A.I.R. system, should there have been an A.I.R. brochure? Would there also have been brochures for tires and battery? What are the part numbers of the brochures? Thanks for your help. Joe.

General Discussion / Parts Catalogs
« on: February 16, 2010, 05:35:39 PM »
I want to buy a GM parts catalog for my 68 and was wondering which edition is best. As far as I know, the early editions show the original part numbers but not the replacement part numbers whereas the later editions show the replacement numbers but do not show numbers that are discontinued. Are there any other considerations? Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe.

Hi. Can anyone tell me the GM part number for the air manifold assembly (smog system air injector pipe) used on my 1968 6 cylinder engine? Thanks.

General Discussion / A.I.R. (Smog) Systems
« on: February 11, 2010, 10:12:29 PM »
Hi. I would like to solicit comments from those of you that drive your cars with a stock, fully functional smog system. I've read that upon deceleration there can be a popping noise and back-firing. Is this correct in all cases and are there any other adverse effects? It's hard to imagine that this was acceptable. Thanks for any input.

General Discussion / Holler Chevrolet Documentation
« on: February 07, 2010, 03:39:53 AM »
Has anyone managed to get any documentation from Holler Chevrolet in Winter Park Florida? If so, what's the trick? My car was bought new there and I'd love to get the documentation that I'm missing. I believe that they will be closing soon. Thanks.

Site Comments/Discussion / Posting a Picture with the Message
« on: January 30, 2010, 05:44:35 PM »
Whenever I post a picture uploaded from my computer with my message, the file name, which has to be clicked upon, appears rather than the picture itself. How do I get the actual picture to show with the message? Thanks, Joe.

Originality / 1968 Manual Drum Brake Master Cylinder Date Code
« on: January 29, 2010, 07:58:47 PM »
The attached picture is of my original 1968 manual drum brakes master cylinder casting number 5452310, application code BS. The date code is C8 8 (March 8, 1968).
The foundry code is T37. My car is an 04A Norwood car. Every master cylinder date code I've seen so far has been in the Julian form. Did the two date code formats co-exist or did one supersede the other?

General Discussion / Zone Office Documentation
« on: January 26, 2010, 05:01:37 PM »
Has anyone been successful in obtaining documentation from a GM Zone Office? I imagine that the zone office would have received copies of the dealer order form and invoice when the car was delivered. Any experiences, comments? Thanks, Joe.
