Can anyone tell me if the cocktail shakers in the trunk of a 68 convertible were black or spatter gray color?

Thanks, Mike.

Originality / stereo controls in floor console
« on: March 01, 2010, 06:42:12 PM »
I have a tough question for the group.

I am installing stereo controls in the console glove box door of my 68 (RPO U51?). I need to drill a hole in the wall of the glove box to allow the control cable to pass through it. Can anyone tell me the correct size and location of the hole? I know that it is in the right side wall ner the rear but I don't know the size or correct location.

Thanks in advance, Mike.

Originality / 1968 L-6 250 CI fender emblem
« on: February 15, 2010, 01:23:06 AM »
Can anyone tell me what if any fender emblem was used on the front fenders of a 68 Camaro with a 250 six in it? My car is being prepped for paint and has a 327 engine in it right now. I have the original number matching six on an engine stand and I need to decide which emblems to drill the fender for. I would like to install the 327 emblems but wish that I could switch to the six cylinder emblem later if I want to go back to the original engine.

I have seen the 67 emblem with vertical color bars and the "250" number that goes on the flank of the fender and I have seen the 1969 250 number that goes on the front of the fender in the bumble-bee stripe but I can't find any reference to a 250 emblem on a 1968 car.

Any help?

Thanks, Mike.

Restoration / fuel tank quality
« on: March 23, 2007, 11:53:59 PM »
I haven't logged in here since it was the old style forum mostly because I've been sidetracked by building my old Harley but I'm turning my attention back to the 68 convertible this spring and I have a question. Can anyone here recommend a good quality repro fuel tank for my 68? Year one claims to have OEM tanks but they're a little pricey for me. I also saw a complete kit with straps, filler neck, anti squeek pads at Classic Industries for what looks like a fair price.  Any help on the parts or tips on the installation would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Mike.
