Do these carb codes look original? I am thinking about buying it, but it makes me wonder without dates codes in the same spot.

1969 - Orphans / 9N366287 could be 9N566287 396 L89 Engine on Ebay
« on: December 03, 2007, 02:45:32 AM »
This is a T1203KE pad stamp which the CRG website indicates for special clutch. I have e-mailed the seller and asked if the VIN is 9N566287. Is the KE a rare engine code?

Decoding/Numbers / x66 on ebay?
« on: November 27, 2007, 02:38:50 AM »
As I read the information X66 did not have style trim or RS (z21 or z22). Am I missing something or is this car an incorrect X66? The cowl tag is not shown. Just trying to understand.  ???

This 396/325 L35 engine is lor sale on Team Camaro
http://www.camaros.net/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=21387&cat=all

I have a similar car with an L35 automatic and the engine that was assembled on the same date 11-30-1968 and the VIN is about 600 higher. It is odd that the block casting dates are 28 days apart. ??? There is a good chance these cars were born on the same day and with similar features they could be twins.  ;DIf this car is still alive and you own it or know where it is, please contact me.

Decoding/Numbers / Rally Wheel Codes
« on: July 19, 2007, 02:23:03 AM »
I have seen photos of rally wheels with the code text in opposite directions. The CRG photo of a YH wheel shows the codes upright when the valve stem is at the bottom. Here is a YJ wheel where the text is upright when the vavle stem is at the top. Why the difference?

Decoding/Numbers / TH 400 numbers
« on: July 02, 2007, 02:27:33 AM »
I was looking at the transmision numbers today on my 1969 Camaro. I need help knowing what car the transmission came from. The partial VIN is 18B135475. It was very hard to read the numbers in the car with a mirror, I hope they are correct. I think this is a 1968 transmission from a 2 door Impala made in Baltimore, MD based on my researched. The numbers on the side tag are 311, CC-68-8423. This appears to be a 396 325 HP car. I assume the 311 is Nov. 1967. It appears the VIN was stamped and the bottom of the numbers did not leave an adequate impression, so they moved up and stamped it again. I only see the last of the digits (135475) as the others were stamped over. Does anybody know Chevy other than Camaro that would know the source of my transmission?

Decoding/Numbers / Carburator date code
« on: May 02, 2007, 10:50:12 AM »
Is this a possible location for a carb date code? Most I have seen are near the part number on the body, not on the throttle plate. Since it is partly off the plate, my best read of the number is 2278.
