1456  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: 68 302 engine mounts on: July 10, 2007, 12:33:12 AM
Thanks for the link and info.  I think the repros will work.  For some reason I thought maybe all new mounts were for the 69 type stands.

No thoughts on this?  I read the thread about the engine mounts and the CRG article.  I'm still confused. Huh
1458  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / 68 302 engine mounts on: July 03, 2007, 01:11:21 AM
I read through the threads on this, but I wanted to try and clarify something about the replacement engine mounts.  I have the original frame stands verfied by the part #s still on them and I bought engine mounts from Rick's for the original frame stands.  The confusion lies in the discussions about the interlocking engine mounts not fitting the frame stands not made for the new interlocking engine mounts.  Was this meant for the 69 engine mounts not being used with 68 frame stands?  Or would all the new mounts that are now the interlocking design need to be used with 69 type frame stands?  In a previous post, someone said that the replacement engine mounts were all the interlocking kind now and I got confused with whether the 68 engine mount replacements were now the same as the 69 engine mounts or still different.  The engine mounts I purchased were for the original 1968 frame stands.  Thanks.

So the original Z28 gaskets had to be retorqued?

I've never had this problem.  Am I just lucky, or was this not a common problem?

I guess I'm just pissed because I'm stuck in the middle of a project that's looking like it will never get finished because of the absurd price of parts.      Grin

Ditto that.

1462  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: 403 Bellhousing color? on: June 30, 2007, 09:22:29 PM
Jerry's book said the acceptable finish was Chevy orange and he usually lists if bare is OK too, but he didn't.  So I wondered if bare aluminum was ok too.  That's all I've ever seen on restored and original cars, but Jerry should know I guess.
1463  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / 403 Bellhousing color? on: June 30, 2007, 12:39:12 AM
I read that the finish for the bellhousing should be Chevy orange.  I've never seen one this way on an original car.  Is it supposed to be orange or natural aluminum?  I don't mean over spray but solid orange.  Thanks.

1465  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: How Much Do You Drive? on: June 01, 2007, 07:37:37 PM
I just drive around the area, to work sometimes on Sundays because there is no traffic and it's safe.  I'm really worried about some rebrobate running into me.  I wonder how many people on here on in Oregon?  It's a diffferent world out here.  I live close to country roads and that's what i drive on.  I've never been back East so I don;t know what it's like.

That's a long shag from OR.  Wish I could make it though.

I can't find the one on TC, must have been a different one.

The 69 AIM shows 3192826 as the front shock.  I don't know for what model or if there are differences.  Pg 52
