Maintenance / Accelerator Pump Gasket
« on: August 23, 2020, 12:25:24 AM »
I'm having trouble locating a new gasket for the accelerator pump on my dated 4153.  Holley lists a bunch but I don't know if it's 30 cc or 50 originally and Napa has some but I just wondered if it mattered if it was theirs or Holley or whatever.  Mine leaks and I sealed the gasket contacts surfaces so it must be in the diaphragm.

Decoding/Numbers / Heater core seal
« on: July 14, 2017, 12:17:36 AM »
Does anyone know what the function or difference is between the heater core seal # 3929024 and 9789711.  The 711 shows for 67 and the other for 68 but some parts books show the 711 for 67 and 68.  The AIMs each show 68 and 67 respectively.

I'm just wondering because all the heater box seal kits have a generic flimsy foam for that seal and some parts places say if you want the correct seal you have to order ... which is a functional repro of the original 3929024.  However, I found a place that still has the original gm part 9789711.  If it's functionally and appearing the same as the 3929024, I thought I would get it as it's the same price (well actually cheaper) than the repro.

Does anyone know about this item?  I've never heard of it and it doesn't show in the AIM.

Originality / Dash center panel
« on: July 10, 2017, 10:27:55 PM »
Just wondered if the pebble grain black center panel for the dash had a part number on it or any way to determine if it was a factory item.  I had to take mine off to redo a radio speaker and mine has a few dents in the bright work.  If mine is repro, no problem and I'll just get another.  If not I'll need to try and fix it or get another.

Originality / 68 Z fuel sending unit
« on: July 04, 2017, 07:08:10 PM »
Does anyone know the part # for the original sending unit?  I have found some GM ones but the two parts look slightly different.  One has a straight barb-less pipe out of the sender.  Another has a longer pipe with a 45 bend at the end with a barb on it.  That one looks like what shows in the Chassis Service Manual, but it is a small picture.  This is the 3/8 line.

Decoding/Numbers / Window felt #'s
« on: July 03, 2017, 10:57:45 PM »
I was wondering if someone with knowledge or a book that could tell me what the inner and outer felt numbers are for 68 std interior no reveal belts.  I was always waiting for good repro ones but i guess they're about as good as they get and it's ok bu I'm looking for NOS.  The claims for what fits what is all over the place.

General Discussion / BB Radiator
« on: July 03, 2017, 04:54:04 PM »
I had a line on what I thought was a radiator for my car, but it was an OL code for BB.  I do not have it and am not selling anything nor do I know the person. PM me.

Originality / Windshield washer
« on: June 24, 2017, 06:29:43 PM »
I was wondering if someone with an original windshield washer cap on the tank could measure what the nipple size is for the hose going from the tank to the inlet on the washer unit.  I bought "correct" ribbed washer hose years ago and it is way too loose on that nipple on mine.  I'm thinking it could be an aftermarket lid that isn't right or the hose.  Just don't know which one.

Restoration / Windlace, u jamb fuzzies
« on: June 21, 2017, 03:49:44 AM »
Hey I'm trying to install new fuzzies to replace my reveal belts (that I am taking off) and got them in fine.  The problem I'm having is the door windlace and the u jamb rubber.  My original windlace on the driver's side was bad (and the repops are too) but I can't figure out how all this goes together.  I can't find anything in my Fisher manual or the overhaul manuals either.

The windlace has a slotted steel clip that looks like it is screwed to the body, but you can't do that with the quarter panel trim covers on.  Does someone know the order of doing this?  Or is there an illustration somewhere?  I read one post where this is mentioned and it talked about a screw holding the windlace clip on.  But my passenger side has no screw hole in the body for this.  The driver side does, but it had the ujamb screwed to the body through that and there was no clip on the windlace on that side.  I have pictures if this is not clear.

Originality / Non reveal felts
« on: June 16, 2017, 08:14:59 AM »
Does anyone know the size and type screw to hold the felts on the doors?  I got the new ones in with the clips and when I took the old one off there were some screws at either end under the belt, (I had the reveal belts on and took them off) but I want to make sure before I re-use what was there.  It would seem you need a small flat head to go deep into the felt to not scratch the glass.

On another note.  I have some screws holding my door rubber seal at the front.  The rear has some plastic push clips holding them to the door, but the front had screws.  Did the front use the plastic as well?  If so, does anyone know where to get them?

A pic of the screws in front.  Very bottom of page.

Originality / 68 Z trans mount
« on: June 04, 2017, 07:08:01 AM »
Looked over threads with no conclusive answer so I wondered if anyone knew what trans mount came on the 68 Z? Was it the same on all small blocks?  Jerry shows one part # 3895830 that I read somewhere, but can't find again.  Some parts books list 3 different ones used from 67-69.

Originality / 68 Quarter window u-jamb screws
« on: June 02, 2017, 04:58:25 PM »
Does anyone have their original screws holding these u jambs in place?  I've noticed that my passenger side doesn't even have any screws at all in it so I would like to see what an original is or at least for now get a size that would work temporarily.

Or could someone point me to a part # for the screws?  I have a Fisher body service manual and can't find it in there.  If someone has found it in there let me know please.
