General Discussion / 1968 L88 Alan Green Car

Noticed this ad while cruzing the Seattle Craigslist.

I last saw this car at a 1980's local Tacoma car show. THis was owned by a PNWCC member. I recall the legend that the owner displayed the car with the original dealer conversion documents. Only to have the doc's lifted-taken stolen during some subsequent show. It was published (The Loss) in our PNWCC newsletter for members to Keep an eye out for the docs thru word of mouth or at some swap meets. It befuddles me to this day how-why of this loss. We heard the owner was very distressed by this loss the car was put away  and this is the first I have seen of it since 80's, & It looks just as I remember.

Neat car.

General Discussion / Garnet Red 1969 Z28
« on: May 19, 2019, 10:23:09 PM »
I missed the re-discovery of a local car. It made it out after storage for 40 years. I have known Glen since meeting him at a PNWCC Show in the late 80's and he ALWAYS talked about a Red car I never would see (or See photo's) . Even tho I missed its re-emergence I look forward to seeing it at a Puget sound show sometime this year.

Here is the Note I got with the pics.
"This is the ‘69 Z/28 my brother-in-law Dick owned from 1971-73, when he sold it to Glen of Bainbridge Island…who still owns it. I wanted to buy it in 1973 but had to sell another car to do so, and that didn’t happen. I tried to talk Glen out of it in 2016, after it had sat in his garage for nearly 40 years. Glen wouldn’t sell, but he did (surprisingly) clean it up and begin driving it again. I believe it is still running the balanced and blueprinted 360 HP 350 LT1 that I and Dick installed in 1972.
The only paint that is not original is the LH quarter, which was replaced/repainted in early 1973."

I sure hope I can crawl around this one and maybe even get a ride. Sorry if this sounds like a broken record-

THEY ARE still out there!

Maintenance / TH400 Rebuild
« on: February 09, 2019, 04:34:49 PM »
Well, I have been running a Chevelle "CX" TH400 for a few years as my factory installed unit is laid up in "bad order" account of shuddering shifting  2-3 shift under WOT. Well I have a close friend that is restoring a 65 Buick GS Riv w/ TH400 switch-pitch version. I found this opportunity as the old commercial goes, " I always wanted to work on a transmission,,,,,".

Garage Talk / 1968 SS/RS Fresh from Storage
« on: July 16, 2018, 07:08:06 AM »
Went to the PNWCC ALL Camaro Show today & had forgotten about a Couple of Tacoma Wa 1968 Camaro finds that a Buddie Chris had sent me. All the info I have is Stored since 1979 found and have been flipped twice, All I can hope it that they end up in the hands of a restorer to bring them or each back into the Hobby, They were flipped and eventually flipped to a high price which seemed no room to keep the restorer in the safe zone (read upside down)

No other details or access to look at them for originality purposes.

Originality / 1968 Z28 Alternator Fan Question
« on: June 10, 2018, 07:47:39 PM »
I was at a car show recently and a 69'er fella brought up the topic of some Z's use Hook style Fan with regard (application) to my 68Z.
I stood there with a silly (confused) & grin w/o questioning in my mind why (?)
my 68Z  1100814 37 amp date coded 7H10 Alt has a 1967 style fan on it.
It really looks like the 1967 Fan shown in 67-68 302 facts book (rev 4) page # 14, it (Alt) does have a 3.200inch deep groove pulley.

OK, Can this be a situation like; 2 codes used in 68 for the Dizzy, early car Black Ashtrays, Non disc brake pedal medallion pads, & all these little differences we encounter along the way?

This may have been discuss before, I search a bit before asking.

Opinions?

I had the distinct pleasure of driving Ken & Marylou in My 69 Camaro Pace Car Convertible this weekend (2018 Bremerton Armed Forces day parade, We were unit "A-3" hosted by the Kitsap Credit Union (Where my Wife works) also riding was Elliot Craigg the soon to be retired CEO of Kitsap Credit Union.

Ken is pretty spry & sharp for 95 y/o, Link to his story above.

We owe a LOT to this generation.

Just a sample of Camaro'ing for the community.
