Originality / T350 Flexplate with a stamping . . .

Going through my flexplates and I came across a plate with a 42 stamping on it.. On the other side of the part is a 1/2" dowel pin I guess there to mate  the crank flange  and the plate.
Have a few T350 flexplates and this is the only one with the dowel pin.. When did they stop coming out with this feature??  Hoping it is common to a '68 396 L35 engine.. Has overspray on it,  could this be from GM as they painted  the engine / transmission assembly??

General Discussion / Proper thermo. Housing for 427 / 435 hp intake

Need to verify a thermostat housing for a 427 435hp intake.. Looks like a Julian date of 1595 and a couple of back to back "C" s. Also there is a small return spring hole similar to a  660 housing.

Decoding/Numbers / SB Balancers are they ??

How are SB balancers easily identified??  Seems to be codings of some sort on the front anf on the inner hub on the rear GM numbers.  How can I tell a low HP units from a high HP 327 or 350ci units.

Originality / Stant Oil Fill cap was it ? .?

Found this 'un on an old oil fill tube. I kinda remember that we had push-on chrome units on the end of the tube. Maybe the push-ons were just the beginning of buying chroime for the old engines, eh?   Are the "Stant" caps original to oil fill tubes or are they supposed to be used in valve covers??

Originality / Alternator brackets 1st and 2nd Gen ? ?

Need help in figuring out what is original on the 1st Gennie brackets and on the 2nd Gen brackets I have from the left the mystery bracket then a 454 1977 bracket and on the right is a SBC bracket.
    The mystery brackety could possibly be a Firebird 1975 model. Look at the size of this one compared to the Chevy brackets. Actually the SBC is larger than the BBC bracket.
     On the First Gen. brackets, are these original GM units or aftermarket??  Figured I'd start over on this subject as my first posting is a bit lower on the page..

Are the alternator brackets the same for a short, 3856284 1968  Big Block water pump versus the brackets for the  later 6263707 long Big Block water pump??

Decoding/Numbers / Fan spacer for '69 V8s

Good afternoon!!
 Trying to de-code my fan spacers and I see in your CRG Tables for 67-69 units, you show a 3927792 as being correct for  '69 V8 engines.. I have a 3927793 in front of me..
Wonder if the table is wrong and this unit should be what I am looking at presently i.e. 3927793.
Not trying to be a smart a$$ gentlemen, but, so much mal-information exists now.
The above number could just be a typing error or maybe the numbers are good???

Restoration / Crank and water pump pulleys what is the best ??

Have some pulleys from the 60s - 70s that have to be cleaned up.. What is the safest and best way to go about this??  Is it okay to spray can paint or paint 'em with a spray gun??

What is (are) the differences between 1 and 2nd Generation parts with regards to Dimple connecting rods and pushrods??  Is one better n' the other??
