Looked with the borescope and it is just one panel till about 1" from the door jamb area where there is a second layer. Open the door and remove the plastic vent and look thru that way. From the pics it looks to me like someone cheated in 1/4 panels on your car.

The 7000 mile RS ZL1 had a dirty white vinyl top. Mr Clean Magic eraser made it look like new in no time. Buy a couple at the grocery store and try it. Worst case is you are out about 5.00.

But at least with a MO motor you know it started life as a Z28 engine. You don't know that with a CE.

I think I would put his MO in your car. You know it is a real MO. A CE might have also been used in a non Z car.

Just for more info..On my 70 Z28 you can clearly see the hold down and bolt were painted silver.
