197  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 69 L78 Question on: February 20, 2012, 10:34:31 AM
69 camaro L78,s came with the CX 400 turbo with also came on the ZL1,s. I have a 69 with the original CX 400 and it is a blast drive with 355 gears. It shifts like nothing I have driven. A previous owner rebuilt it in the 90,s and said it was stock. Other owners back to the seventies all said it was always that way although my owner history stops in 77.

I agree with the nice restamp. Too nice. I saw one on a corvette and mentioned that it was so clear and straight and the owner and the owner said, oh I did tell you it was a restamp didn,t I?

Mid year corvettes were the same. If you ordered a grille or gas lid for any year they sent a 66 model. It seems if a later part fit they discontinued the others.
200  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: How to run the positive (red) wire from carb to power source. on: January 17, 2012, 08:50:09 AM
I guess you are refering to the electric choke wire. The instructions do say what you state. It could be because points cars don,t usually have 12 volts there when running or they don,t want you to draw off the ignition power If you go to the fuse box you want a fuse that is only on with the switch on not one with power on always. I put one on my 64 vette years ago and due to reasons forgotten I did put it on the positive side on the coil. It runs fine and has for years. I might add that I do have a mallory electronic kit replacing the points. My 67 Chevelle was done the same way when I bought it with points and it ran fine. If you need to check it just unplug the red wire at the choke and tape it up and try it. The choke won,t work but if it still runs rough look somewhere else.
201  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: What rare part would you like to see a top quality reproduction produced? on: January 06, 2012, 04:23:22 PM
Ordered some spark plug wire holders (the plastic part) and missed placed them. Went to Auto Zone to get something temporary. Got home and found the repops and they were the same thing. Also ordered some vent window locks for my GTO and the wrapper said 66-67 Chevelle. No wonder repops don,t fit.

If you are talking about the part on the wiper motor I don,t think anyone makes it. I bought a nice used one from Camaro Barn in NC.

Even though these are original paint cars, who knows how much polishing they have gotten over the years.

A friend got them on a trade. He said there were no letters but they have been painted and he didn,t want scratch off the finish. They are nice with trim rings, small center caps, and red wall nylon tires. He has them for sale. I will go look myself today or tommorow.
