2  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: any of you ever sued over a car you bought on: July 22, 2014, 05:05:48 PM
Never sued over a car but been in several suits. Looks like the ad might hurt you. New quarters? does not say how they were installed. New floors, well they are just not right. 350 at? well it does not say it is good. Not a show car? driver? did it drive? Wish you luck. I think you just went to the school of hard knocks.

Harbor Freight sells the IR tool for usually $29.00. One of the best tools I have bought lately. It is as accurate as the $600.00 one we have at work, just does not record or do thermal images. They have many uses.

I looked at a NOS with the box at the Raleigh NC show a couple years ago. It was darker than mine. Mine (64k miles) looks like Johns, a little oranger than the NOS. The NOS lasted about 30 minutes at $2500.

6  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Original dealer info for 1st gens is available on: July 15, 2014, 09:05:22 AM
What is that dealers location? I have been thinking since many people are getting information of maybe a poll with the dealer and location plus car info such as SS, Z28, or base. I would be interested to see which state maybe sold the most muscle cars. PA seems to be popular but maybe not.
7  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Cowl Tag Codes Sep 68 vs Sep 69 on: July 08, 2014, 02:18:29 PM
x codes appeared around 12B of 68. My 12A 55xxxx has no X code.

9  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: NCRS YENKO NICKEY BALDWIN DANA SCUNCIO on: July 01, 2014, 02:39:31 PM
I can,t say surprised because when I bought my 69 RSZ28 back in 2001 the owner made a deal about it being a Scuncio and said he had talked to Bob Johnson and he had some Scuncio newspaper adds and a key fob and some papers not matching to my car but no proof. I had never heard of them at the time. Later when someone at car showed offered me some serious change for my tail emblem I got interested and did some research but came to a dead end until I got my NCRS papers. They say production date 8/28/1969, dealer code 613 in zone 32, Scuncio Chevrolet, Greenvile, RI. Plus my car being an 08E car put the icing  on the cake. So surprised? no, happy, yes. If my 55xxx L78 was not in the lost zone maybe then I could be surprised.

11  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Do You Still Have Your First Car? on: June 28, 2014, 09:50:47 AM
I don,t have mine either. It was a black with red interior 61 Impala bubbletop.348 tripower, 350 horse, 4 speed, all factory. Bought new by my cousin . His wife parked it when it would not start in a field while he was in Viet Nam. I gave him $90.00 for it and towed it home. New battery and a tune up and a 16 year old in 69 was on the loose. Put down some 396 chevelles and GTO,s. dated my 1st wife in it. Spun a bearing in it and bought a 65 SS impala. Put the 4 speed in that and actually gave the body away to a guy who wanted the interior. Later gave the 348 away. This car actually had the tripower emblems on the front fenders. Many cars later and I still look at 61 black impalas hoping it might be mine. I did however take pictures of it and still have them. For some reason I was into pictures and took some of almost every car I ever had and still have them in an album. On lazy days it is nice to look at 45 years worth of muscle cars the I owned and drove.
12  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Grill emblem placement for a 1969 Z/28 RS vs Standard on: June 25, 2014, 08:05:40 AM
If you guys are talking about the Fathom Green in Muscle Car Review. Look at the original engine except hoses and belts. I saw a 67 down oil fill tube and cap and the valve covers are on the wrong sides. Not sure I would say all original.
13  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Fake or real DZ stamp and partial Vin ? on: June 18, 2014, 02:37:35 PM
As long as matching numbers and rare options can double the value of a car, be it a Camaro, corvette, or other the fakes will continue. As Dana M said at one of his actions, only the cars with doc,s are bringing real money.
14  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: intake on: June 09, 2014, 02:49:30 PM
After leaking cork and plastic I went silicon on the ends. They sell orange and silver to match your block or aluminum intake. If you want to look factory and don,t know you parts history just dry set the intake and use a feeler guage to check clearances. I someone milled your heads or cylinder surfaces when you tighten the intake it might squeeze the end gaskets out due to no clearance.
15  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: media blasting on: June 09, 2014, 02:03:20 PM
I do not what is best but I have some hints. If anything such as dash, instruments, wiring, ect are left on the car the media will find it. Remove it all first or you will have to do it later and clean it. Plus after you blow it with compressed air, vacuum it 4 times. still wear goggles when you drive it for a while and be prepared to get it out of your ears ,nose and teeth. And by the way spraying with water 5 times will not help.
