Originality / Re: $12.65 charge for a standard paint color?

I would think that black caused GM problems because it hides nothing. It also gets so hot in the sun if there is something under it would (pull) as I call. I have 2 black cars the looked great until they sat in sun. Both have pulled somewhere.

You might want call White Post Restorations. If fact if you let them rebuilt they guarantee for night. They did my corvette many years ago. After about 10 years it started leaking. They were surprised when I said I still had the receipt, they redid it for free.

If I recall they dropped black as a standard color sometime in 69 . Might be a special paint car.

I am with Gary. 50.00 or no. Since your car looks to be nothing rare ( not to hurt feelings) I would just let it go. When I tracked down a 1977 owner of my L78 he told me he had pictures from 77 which I offered to buy. He sent them to me for free. There are too many people now who fake or just want to rip someone off. If my non matching DZ had a vin I could find I would put it on the CRG and just ask for any DZ in exchange.

General Discussion / Re: '69 Camaro parts at Charlotte

Being a long time fan of the Autofair. I learned that a lot of dealers go very early and buy parts and cars from people who do not want to stay until Sunday and try to resale them during the weekend. I think that is what started the rule no open titles allowed. You used to find some good deals but most sellers now know what they have. In 94 I bought a 69 vert with a 350 auto and air with the protecto plate. Looked like brand new. Got home decoded the plate. 6 cylinder 3 speed car.

When I bought my 69 Z it had a High Performance Scuncio Chervolet emblem on the rear. It also came with a key fob and newspaper adds. I thought little of it until a guy at a local show wanted to by it. When his offer got to $1,000.00 plus paint repair I started some research. Some of these emblems and decals are worth keeping on the cars.

I rebuilt one some years back. I think you would do better to buy the whole carrier from Jegs or Summit.

RS Copo, How are you planning to get NC titles? I am from NC and have never been able to get any.

Garage Talk / Re: Z28 Emblems.... HOW MANY have been made??

It is amazing what this site and age teaches us. In the 70,s I lived in an apartment and a neighbor had a ralley green 69 Z like the surviver in another post. The local guru said it was a clone because they did not make RS Z,s. We new nothing then about X codes or DZ letters or anything else about what makes a real Z. But even then the emblems and stripes did add value to the cars real or not. Back then my brother had a real 68 SS L78 but it had Z emblems and Z stripes.

Another North Carolina car. I wonder if now with the ncrs papers should there be a poll to see which state sold the most Z,s SS,s and Big Blocks. I would think NC,VA, and PA would be there. Nice car same colors as my L78.

There are so many(emblems and stripes) around here it is unreal. While looking for the car I have I read Everything Jerry had written and studied every thing I could. I was at a local show a few years back (250) plus cars probably 20 69,s with Z stuff there. A guy looking to buy one was told to see me. He asked how real Z,s were there. I said mine and that blue for sure and I think that black one also. I said the rest are not.
