6-cylinder Camaros / Re: Highly option 6 cylinder car
« on: January 04, 2023, 09:18:15 PM »
If my dad had of ordered it for me it would have had a big block in it in 60 days. I would have told him the hood latch was broke if he wanted to look. I slid a new cam in my 327 while he was out of town one week. He kept trying to smooth out the idle adjusting the carb.

I tryed the ultra sonic  plus poisons and so called miracle traps. The old wooden piece with peanut butter works best for me. I have another building at my place for my mowers ect. plus fish food for my pond. If I see they got to the fish food I can set 3 or 4 traps, cut out the lights and within an hour the traps have the critters.

I find something that really draws them is paper towels. My local show bag usually has windex and paper towels usually left in the trunk. I switched cars to show, left the bag in the different car and bingo mouse crap. My method is the old wood traps with peanut butter. Gets them every time. I keep a couple set in my shop always.

Front number quarts are no better. Don,t know whether it was the bumper  or the guards, I did not have any originals handy to try them on.

If the price is more than the parts are worth I would have to pass. If you media blast the car it may be nothing leave of it.

I agree with Rich. I may get an electric for around town but the all electric cars thing has a ways to go. If NASCAR goes electric it with look like slot car racing even more than it does now. I would like a COPO camaro but it would have to street legal for me.

Not doubting Joe,s car came with a lock washer I think that the star washer is what was intended and should be there.

Restoration / Re: Vinyl Top

I don,t really like vinyl tops either but black on red with a white top if factory colors would seem to be kind of a rare combo to do away with. Also the studs that hold the molding on are a pain to patch for painting.

I think I will swap out the booster. It was not as bad when I got the car so it must be just going bad.

Had not thought about comparing the two. I will try to get a few pics if I get out to the shop this evening.

I think on the sound you might look at the u joints. I would think they are new but parts these days might not be all that good. I had someone do some front end work awhile back and I really do not think they greased any of the new parts after installation.

Maintenance / Hard brake pedal
« on: November 28, 2022, 03:34:59 AM »
I have two 69 Camaros. One z28 and one SS L78 both power disc brake cars. Both have have the boosters replaced and brakes rebuilt by po. The Z has an almost touchy brake feel while the SS has a hard pedal almost like it would with the engine not running. The vacuum is 14 or so at idle, the booster holds vac but it takes serious pedal pressure to stop. I am thinking booster but would like to hear you guys input. I also have replaced the vac valve on the booster as this caused a similar problem on my GTO.

The car does not look too bad but I imagine there are a whole lot of parts bent in that front end. I hope he knows a really good body man.
