Probably need more info. Parts or the car may show up for sale with fake tags. I picked up my 69 L78 in Penn. I had driven since 2 am and was at the VA. line about 10 PM and my wife wanted to get a motel since we had 70 more miles to go. I told her with no insurance and the car on my trailer it was not an option. Needed gas about midnite and got home at 2 am. Will think about it next time.

If the DZ has the vin, you might post it in the orphans and recoup some and maybe get another non matching engine.

Hey guys,
Just want to say no relation. (name), I think he has been banned from some forums. It is a shame not just this hobby but everywhere there are scam guys. Experience and this forum helps a lot.

In answer to #10 I did mate to existing fittings. Another note about syn-fluid, White Post Restorations told me when I returned my master cylinder for their lifetime warranty that if I had used syn-fluid they would not cover the warranty. I had not and they did not say what they had against syn-fluid.

A simple item could be the square gasket at the accelerator pump rod. It is on the the throttle side near the front. You will have to remove the carb to replace it.  Even the local parts stores should have them. A tell tale sign is discoloration on the aluminum intake under it. The gas usually evaporates but leaves color. May not be your problem but with you symptoms it has in the past.

It looks my L78 coupe. Makes me feel good about values. I think the car is too late for the SS wheels but Jerry,s papers show it is a real car.

Going through some magazines during Matthews torrents, I saw what is called the first Camaro. A gold 67 vin #1. Other articles dispute (#1)  and say there were 48 or 49 prototypes. Have any of these been found? One article says they had no vin tag and were crushed.

Odd does interest me. My 69Z with no console, gauges, power steering. But it is an RS with custom interior. It is a documented Scuncio car. Do not know who ordered it but why get the bells and leave off the whistles?

I have used stainless several times. Leaks every time. Steel will look good if driven in fair weather. Your bolt threads will rust first in not treated.

This kind of brings up a thought I have had. It seems correct corvette aluminum intakes show orange overspray where the engine was painted with the intake on which would make the clip orange. I do note recall seeing this on non corvette engines with aluminum intakes? A friend just sold an original 68 327 engine with a cast iron intake and it was orange. Some of the old magazine test car pics might show it but most I have seen were black and white not color.

Makes sense,
I feel odd cars kind of lead to the thoughts of originality. I think most restorers of non doc cars add options for resale or to try to make them look like people think they should. My 12A L78 auto has the D55, tach, and no gauges. My 08E Z has no console, no gauges, but a tach and center fuel gauge which I see very few like.

DW,
Do you know if the picture of Bobby Warren is the Bobby Warren from Clinton NC? He was a family member from whom several people in NC bought or had engines built by Warren Engines. I have made a copy but I am sure family members would be interested. I speak in the past tense because it has been at least 20 years since I have contacted them. He was well known in this area as a serious racer.
