Garage Talk / Re: First two firebirds going to auction
« on: February 02, 2017, 02:35:02 PM »
Saw them sell at a no reserve auction. I think they sold as a pair for 225k. Per the Fast and Loud show I think he paid 625K. He did not look happy at the sale. Richard Rawlings had to hug him.

The lady that did Harris Conners paperwork still lives in Durham. Her son is a friend. She might know someone who knows if their papers still exist. I will check.

It is an on going battle here. My company works at both universitys. You will be escorted off either campus for wearing the others colors. It is serious here. Tickets to the Duke ,Carolina basketball games are serious gold.

General Discussion / 1969 Feature car
« on: January 31, 2017, 09:13:43 PM »
It says the car was bought new at a Chapel Hill NC dealer. Having been living in Durham NC all my life, which the city limits of meet Chapel Hill now, I know that the dealer would be Harris Conners Cheverolet which is now a BMW and others dealer. If the owner has names but no contact if he wants to PM me I may know some of them. A couple good friends worked at Harris Conner and the street race guys around here were a pretty tight group. Harris Conner was the only Chevy dealer in Chapel Hill which was and still is a small college town, home of UNC Chapel Hill from which the color " Carolina Blue " originated because it is the team color.
I also think I remember the car.

If you do a search on this site, it has been discussed several times. Make sure of the shifter you have. some will hit the hump if not the correct one.

I did not think 323 was a chevy gear. My Pontiac had one and it required a spacer to change to 390,s.

Since you guys use some numbers I have not heard, does anyone know how many 69 L78 automatic,s were made.
I have always heard 10% of the 4889 number as a guess. I remember back in the 69 L78 auto Novas seemed to be on a lot of car lots.

I have two 69,s. Both control work but not like I think they should. Both seem to be spring loaded near the bottom.

I had an original interior 69 with dark blue. Different parts in it did not match exactly.

I would try the pads 1st and then the rotors.

I would still swap parts from left to right. No cost just time. I think it time to eliminate parts that are not you problem. Something else is make the right caliper is letting the pads retrack when releaseing the pedal.

I think I would look to see if the right and left have some differences. Maybe the calipers do not have the same clearance? Maybe the pads are not the same thickness? Maybe the rotors are not the same thickness? If all else fails swap the pads left to right, and maybe the rotors. But I would do one thing at the time so if it fixes it you will know for sure what is was. My corvette with drums did it only when cold and it turned out to be one auto adjuster was working and the other was not.
