Mild Modifications / Re: Tri-Power 427 fit under 69 SS hood?
« on: January 11, 2018, 01:00:26 PM »
Got around to starting to sort the tripower out. I set it on a bucket next to the test engine stand and pumped some fuel in it. So many leaks I could not count them. Surprisingly the next day the gaskets must have swollen and I was down to just a couple but the needle and seats and floats worked perfect. Got some part # specific kits ordered.

Any of you tried the trailer tire covers? They are priced pretty cheap and my trailers tires seem to dry rot while my cars stored inside out of the sun do not. Last fall I got a new boat trailer that will be used maybe once or twice a year and I would like to think I could actually wear out the tread for a change. My car trailer tires have about 1500 miles on them but I am about afraid to go far on them.

Ed you are probably right. I was thinking about the earlier big cars and C2 vettes.

I was thinking that bigblock chrome valve covers cam with the SS option. Should COPO,s have chrome?

I think the whole story is BS. LOOKS like a clean body with nice parts. Some guys are really getting good at applying patina.

6-cylinder Camaros / Re: 1968 6cyl 3spd

I think rare options are desirable but more so if it is a desirable option plus on a desirable model. Loaded big block four doors are neat but the resale market is very slim. My 69 vert WAS per the POP a 6 cylinder 3 speed with factory air (kind of rare) but it never impressed anyone. When it was sold the current owner did not seem to even care.

Well my tripower came in just before Christmas and of course I had minor surgery right after. I am really pleased with how complete and nice the system is for an ebay find. The picture of the 67 Camaro shows a 68 or 69 unit. The heater hose pointing up instead of to the front like a 67 tells the difference. The 67,s are over 1 inch taller. As soon as I can get around we will find out how a tripower fits under a non cowl 69 SS hood.

Just googled Scuncio. There are several pics of the car and others in vintage drag photos.

Since my 69Z is a Scuncio car I have over the years gone over a lot of Scuncio photos and information and that car is in several photos that I have seen. I think one with a big block and tunnel ram. Although the pics are old I always wondered about the color?

Nice day 2 Mallory. I ran one in my 67 vette in the 70,s. Supposedly could for 10k rpm. Do not remember the cylinder part though.
