Originality / Re: 1967 Survivor

I may be wrong but I think parchment could have came with gold, or red, or a standard interior. Black may have been default if the exterior color was something with out a matching interior color. I am pretty sure I have seen parchment blue in a blue car. An example would a white car with parchment would have black while red car could have a red dash, etc.

General Discussion / Re: Oil pressure at idle
« on: May 06, 2018, 10:30:32 PM »
I would talk to your builder about the pump he used and what he thought it should run. A test gauge would be nice also.10 is ok but I too like to see 25 or 30 but my big blocks do teens or 20 hot. I run the 160 stats with 2 1/8 holes for air traps. Hot temps do thin the oil and lower the pressure. If all checks ok you might try 20/40 oil just to see if.

Garage Talk / Re: First Pontiac Trans Am Made

It is an awesome car but I am like Bryon. What is restored or unrestored? My 77 TA has paint, brakes, door panels, suspension, wetherstrip, other stuff original but I don,t call it unrestored.

What other engines would have used the 499 William?

And our course it has the Pcv and breather in the valve covers. When looking at partial engines I always look for the hole behind the intake to know it is pre 68.

I have yet to try the vinegar Bentley but I will. If it does not work I like vinegar in my pinto beans.

Mild Modifications / Re: Tri-Power 427 fit under 69 SS hood?

Finally got the Green Machine out to a cruise in. Turned a lot of heads, even the guy who had one in the past who was telling me how to adjust it. After 5 minutes he said ( yeah those 2 four barrels were a pain). Another guy just looked at me and smiled. Found my vac leaks, one at the brake booster hose and the other at the front 2 barrel. The throttle plate gaskets were kind if thin (the old ones were thicker) and the front throttle return linkage was touching the intake. Lifted the whole set to keep from loosening all the fuel lines and slid another set of gaskets in and magic it worked. Need to fabricate a good throttle linkage and choke rod and the job is done.

Mild Modifications / Re: Timing Chain - Double or Single Roller?
« on: April 28, 2018, 09:50:42 PM »
If you break either one before the chain wears out something is wrong. I had a Pontiac that would shuck one about every 5k miles. Turned out to be the aftermarket cam.

My z has the Scuncio dealer metal emblem on it. The previous owner had it coated with gold finish. A pic is in the test thread. Someone borrowed a pitted chrome one I had and repoped. It was the Scuncio guy who kind of disappeared.

Reading an article about barn finds at macn last night. They must be getting hard to find. Camaros and others neat looking but missing born with engines, ect, repaints, rust buckets. One Camaro said big fish in NC that waited for big time angler. Here in NC we call the big fish a Carp. They wait so long because no one wants it for the price to pay.

The 8 inch covers are a little hard to find. You can buy the aftermarket (most are chrome) with the bolt on marker and paint it orange. Not correct but hard to tell unless you know.
